2011 is the Year of the Pie

Barbie Crafts
This will be the year of the pie! Yes, the top restaurant trend for 2011 is predicted to be pies, and we may see pie shops popping up, just like the cupcake shops that have been so popular. According to Andrew Freeman, a San Francisco restaurant consultant, this is one of several trends he is seeing for the coming year. You can read about his other thoughts on Nation's Restaurant News here.

The most intimidating part of making a pie is often the crust. The busy modern woman can tackle many challenges, but a pie crust seems overwhelming. If you grew up in an area where traditional cooks still amaze the taste buds with their family recipes, you may be especially afraid to attempt this feat. (You may just be short on time or lazy, just like me!) Here is a pie crust method that requires no rolling pin, and you use Bisquick. There are no complicated chemical reactions to anticipate, either. If you ever played with Play-dough, you can make this pie. Here is the link.

Here are a few links to pie recipes, for the quick and easy cook, as usual!

Key Lime Pie (no cooking!)

Quick and easy Apple pie

Quick and easy berry swirl cheesecake (pie)

Easy as pie Jello pie
