2012 Repbulican Presidential Nominee: The Good, the Bad and the Ugly

Yeah, it's still 23 months away, but in this time of hyper partisan politics it seems we genuinely move from one election to the campaigning for the next with little break to rest. The Republican field of possibilities is deep.

Bobby Jindal is one of my favorites, but it seems after one, only one mind you, speech where he wasn't mellifluous, he drew criticisms that he ain't the one. So, here we go again with the "if they don't talk perfectly, they are not presidential timber?" That's crap. Bush didn't speak well but he was a strong president, love him or hate him, and Obama can sure talk a good game, but he's not as presidential as Admiral Harvey Pants. Talking a good game is not indicative of effective leadership. Have we not learned that yet? And what happened to the tried and true being on the lookout for smooth talkers? Somehow a smooth talker fooled 60 million Americans two years ago and that's been a disaster, no?

Michelle Bachmann of Minnesota is a gal I really like but she's not ready no matter how much I like what she believes and the way she presents it. Unlike the lefties, I do not jump on the popularity bandwagon and I sure am not tricked into thinking because I like one, they are presidential material...not just yet for her this time round.

Newt Gingrich gets lots of press on this topic, but here is another pol I do not want to see be the nominee. Why? Because to me he's too much like Bill Clinton. I think he's a bit of a triangulator and we don't need that. As well I believe he's too divisive. Newt had his chance in the Sun and he was rejected. Now is the time to try new blood, as clearly the voters have rejected the old, staid, Washington DC insider mentality, and I believe Newt is the quintessential example of such.

Mike Pence of Indiana and Governor Tim Pawlenty of Minnesota are a couple of possibles that I like. The only issues with either of them are that Pence is a bit of a power broker insider and Pawlenty is about as exciting as watching grass grow, but honestly neither of my personal observations should exclude one from being the nominee. Obama was "exciting" and how's that working out?

Mitt Romney is still an attractive candidate to me but he's a bit much of the quintessential politico. I do however believe he can read the handwriting on the wall and would govern as the electorate demands. But Romney has baggage - Mormonism will hurt him, why I don't know, but it will, and his willingness to be a little too liberal and accommodating of liberal wishes will be a strike against him as well. I for one do not swallow all the "we need to be post-partisan" crap. There are two distinct parties for a reason. Blending them as if a soup of everything thrown in the pot, does not work as well as it does not serve the constituents who voted for "X" candidate.

Mike Huckabee ain't the one either. I like him personally but he's just not the one. He's a Baptist preacher as well as former multi-term Arkansas governor, but I just think many in the middle would be totally revolted by him and after all, isn't the point to win the damned election? Therefore it would seem common sense to NOT nominate any candidate who could be seen as polarizing for any reason other then their political positions. Of course the other folks will hate the Republican nominee's political position, but trying to appeal to the die hard lefty is not the winning prescription.

Now we come to Miss Sarah...my favorite rabble rouser if one ever lived. I do love this chick. But she IS NOT the one either. She is far too polarizing and has far too much baggage, some of it fair, most of it pure partisan political BS, but whatever the reasons, she is not the one. She is a great force for stirring the base and she would be a great foil...the lefty media and lefties themselves hate her so much they obsess on her, perhaps giving the actual nominee a break. Besides, as an "outsider" and NOT the nominee she can really work her magic, so Miss Sarah, as much as I love you, do what you do best and are the most effective at...being a vocal, visible presence that makes the lefties nuts. Besides, it's so much fun to watch and listen to them go all unhinged, so keep it up Toots!

One name is eerily missing....Governor Chris Christie of NJ. This man IS THE DEAL - the REAL DEAL! He governs exactly as he said he would when he ran and he is not cowed by the whiners on the left at all. In fact he takes them on and whips them every single time. That's what we need.

IMHO George Bush was too reserved. He held the office high and in exceptional esteem but in so doing he allowed, ceded as it were, the incessant attacks against him and the office. I don't want a petulant whiner like we have now, but surely there is some middle ground between Bush's reverence about the office and Obama's using his bully pulpit to whine, complain, pass the buck and remind us incessantly, "I saved you!" No Barack, ya didn't save me, the nation or any damned one, ya fool!

Chris Christie is not afraid to jump into the trenches and battle them. He gives far better than he gets. I don't want to hear all this chatter about how we must be above the fray; we need to give them what they give us. Respect and fair disagreement on merit should be returned. Hateful denigration, lies and all the rest of the of late lefty playbook should be resoundingly not tolerated in any way.

Christie has shown he will do the hard things to govern properly and fairly. He will cut the NJ budget or die trying and that's what this nation needs...hard people with the guts to do the hard things. The next president will have a huge portion on his or her plate and it will take one with exceptional strength and conviction to right this listing to the left ship of state.

Finally, my reasons for desiring who I do are simple. The nation sent a clear message on November 2. We want adherence to the Constitution. We tried it the progressive way and it does not work and people, except for progressives and the foolish, do not like them or how they govern. We want fiscal responsibility no matter how hard it is to live with. Believe me, if ya think budget cutting is hard now, wait until our economy collapses and the dollar is worthless by comparison to today.

President Caspar Milquetoast will not save us. We need strong, decisive leadership from a president who will represent the wishes of the voters and not try to install some long wished for and never publicly uttered agenda. Clearly the rejection of Obama and progressive wishes are crystal. We are a center right nation and we need a center-right Congress and Chief Executive. We need a president who in political leanings, looks like the nation and NOT, NOT, NOT like the current pretender. See where pretenders get us?

The nation's clear rejection of the Obama/Pelosi/Reid agenda was stark and if one cannot read the writing on the wall that is ignorance on their part or political sycophancy for their own dearly held cause. The nation has rejected their desires, so in my opinion we need someone representative of the voter's desires....one who strictly adheres to the Constitution and favors smaller government, lower taxes and massively lower spending.

One who favors the free enterprise system and American Exceptionalism and not an apologist who spends their days telling us how imperfect we are. Does that work in one's life? Do you love your spouse when he or she is on a 24/7 effort to remind you how flawed you are? Like that do ya? Think it's good for your kid's if ya spend near every waking moment telling them what sorry assed SOB"s they are? Does that build esteem, love or respect? No one wants to hear how terrible another thinks we are, especially when it's based on partisan political ideology and not based in fact or weighed with any real and honest merit.

Chris Christie is the quintessential perfect conservative presidential nominee. Besides, he scares the pea-wobbling Hell out of progressives and that sounds right to me. I want those who have declared me and mine their enemies to fear me. If they won't respect me, at least they'll fear me. It was their choice and their decision as to how to roll and they made their choice, so conservatives need to play the game by the rules the lefties installed and the ones they play by.
