2012: A Song of Mirth

M.E. Lilly

Upon the eve of New Year's day
As time winds down to twenty-twelve
There comes a ringing loud and gay
Of lovely chiming happy bells

It rings in chorus clear and strong
With voices steeped in revelry
The tender words of auld lang syne
Sung out in soulful harmony

And when the cosmic clock gives birth
The distant dreamy knells rejoice
For in the clang of kindred mirth
Love is the everlasting voice
