2012 Spring Office Fashion Trends for Women: Fashionable and Professional

R. Elizabeth C. Kitchen

Spring will be here before you know it, so it is time to start getting your spring wardrobe together. Figuring out what to wear to the office is never easy. You want to keep it fashionable, but often have to stay within office dress code guidelines as well. The good news is that there are several spring 2012 women's office wear trends that almost perfectly mix great fashion and professionalism.

The Flowy Floral Top

The beauty of this trend is that you can easily transition it for after-office events. To focus on the office, you can wear this top with either a pencil skirt or a pair of basic flared dress pants. You can pair it with a three-quarter sleeve sweater or even a blazer. You can even skip the sweater and blazer. This look is versatile and most importantly, comfortable.

White After and Before Labor Day

Yes, white is in all throughout spring and beyond. Flowy white skirts, white shirts or even sheath dresses. Also, white pretty much goes with everything, so this is a very versatile look. You can pair a white skirt with a top that bursts with color, or keep it simple and add a more detailed white shirt to a more traditional business suit. You really can have fun with white with just a bit of creativity.

Chiffon is In

A dress that hits about two inches above your knee, made of chiffon, has some embellishments and is made in a pastel-type hue is a true staple this spring. Such dresses are delicate and feminine and are the perfect fit for any office. You can pair them with a cardigan or even a blazer and you are good to go. If the dress has some type of sleeve, you probably do not even need a cardigan or blazer, depending on your office rules and temperature. These dresses are often casual enough for a night out, but can be quickly made professional enough for your nine to five.

Metallic Pumps

Metallic is in this spring and since it can be difficult to incorporate a metallic shirt or skirt into a professional ensemble, metallic pumps are the perfect way to take advantage of this trend. A gold metallic, for example, will fit in with pretty much any color scheme and is just muted enough not to cause a stir. But, you will still have some shine and flair in your outfit.
