Every year Madisonites have a blast at the Madison Jazz Festival! This 2-day event takes place at the Union Terrace and the Wisconsin Union Theater! Most of the event is free, but jazz lovers can stop in the Wisconsin Union Theater on Saturday night to listen to Tierney Sutton from 8:00-9:30 p.m. Tickets purchased in advance are only $23 or they're $25 at the door and UW students get in for just $10! Otherwise, the rest of the show is free! Stop by Friday or Saturday to hear Caravan Gypsy Swing Ensemble, Gerri DiMaggio, Frank Catalano, Tony Castaneda Latin Jazz, as well as many other big and new names!
The Isthmus Jazz Festival is a two-day event with Lake Mendota in the background! A diverse crowd of visitors show up each year to hear an array of artists and performers. Dress casually and meet some new friends! In the mix, you'll find Dixieland, big-band swing, bebop, Latin jazz and free jazz! You can also hear contemporary sounds and funk and hip-hop! There is definitely something for everyone at the Isthmus Jazz Festival and what a fantastic way to kick off the 2010 summer! The fun starts at 4:30 p.m. on Friday night (June 4th) and ends whenever (after 10) on Saturday night (June 5th)!
