My hair is flat, fine and always leaving me wanting more volume. Resorting to teazing resulted in weakening and thinning my already skinny hair.
I've tried tons of root lifting products, salon brands and drugstore brands. I'm a firm believer in buying what works not buying just a label or its product packaging, although cool packaging is fun to buy.
I'm a major fan of TRESemme's new 24 Hour Body Spray Gel. The 24 Hour Body brand is a new line by TRESemme that includes shampoo, conditioner, mousse, and all of the typical hair care products a line would feature. However, I only purchased the spray gel.
It works! Finally a product that gives great volume. Here are my styling instructions for clean hair:
1) Lift sections of your damp hair with a brush, spray on the gel underneath each section. Once near the root and once over the remaining length - for long hair.
2) Brush thoroughly
3) Blow dry while brushing though each section in slow upward strokes with heat
4) With the cool setting on your blow dryer go through the same process as step three
5) Style and hair spray to finish
It's not wise to wash your hair everyday, washing every other day is healthier for your hair. However, if you have oily hair, you might want to look into dry shampoos or wash every day if its excessively oily.
If you wash on alternate days like me, your hair benefits from its natural oils and is shinier. Most importantly, hair holds style so much easier the second day.
One downside to washing every other day is that hair lacks that clean, light bounce it has after washing. You can trick your hair into voluminous bounce with this styling gel. Style instructions to get volume with the day after (washing) hair:
1) Brush out.
2) Spritz individual sections of your dry hair then style (blow dry, flat iron or curl) to set.
3) Lightly hair spray.
This trick will give killer hold, even in 100 degree heat. Take it from me, I sat in direct sunlight for about 30 minutes and it was 100 degrees. My makeup melted but my curls and volume held nicely. This product proved worthy of keeping in my hair care tool box and it retails for only four bucks.

Post a CommentI have the same problem Becka. Fine hair is the culprit, I'm guessing. Maybe I'll give the hair spray a try too. :)
this is the first hair spray that has ever worked on my hair. i have hair that even with short layers, backcombing, and shockwaves hairgel will not stay up. i put this in atleast 5 hours ago and it's still got volume. okay, it has gone down a bit, but it's still a massive improvement, compared to the 5 minute hold of every other hairspray/gel/volumising mousse i've used.
"This trick will give killer hold, even in 100 degree heat." - Sounds like great products combined with a great method. Thanks for sharing. :)
