24 and Jack Bauer Are Back to Save the World Again!

New Characters, a New CTU and Same Old Jack Bauer Make for a Winning Combination for 24

24 is back and Jack Bauer has returned to save the world again and he is looking better than ever. 24 has Jack in New York this time and all the requisite bad guys are quickly lined up for action. There is a brand spanking new CTU office and it has a modern, sleek look with a really cool new location full of glass and chrome. 24 also has a whole new host of characters to either help or hinder Jack Bauer in his pursuit of justice, either way they will ultimately discover that Jack Bauer is the consummate good guy.

Let's talk about the new CTU because it is awesome. Love the new modernistic look and the holograms - very cool for 24.. But great 24 settings do not always make for great 24 decisions. It didn't take long in 24 to start seeing the bad decisions. The new boss at CTU, Brian Hastings, seemed to have got the job by promising a "lean and mean" CTU. It appears the emphasis is on lean. They use drones to help with surveillance and end up getting a helicopter blown up and their contact killed of which Mr. Hastings tries to keep all of that quiet, but Jack Bauer knows.

I have a feeling that we will spend some part of the next 24 hours watching as Brian Hastings learns a lesson or two from old-hand Jack Bauer. And that takes us to Chloe - Jack Bauer faithful side-kick. Chloe is new back at CTU and is in her learning curve for the new systems, but she still can smell when something isn't quite right on 24 and she let's jack know. She is the one that realizes that something was too easy about the would-be terrorist that has, in reality, been setup by the true terrorists. That's our Chloe.

And we can't write about 24 without mentioning the prime newbie on the show, Katie Sackhoff who plays CTU agent Dana Walsh in a very fit form-fitting dress that doesn't leave much to the imagination. Dana is engaged to super-agent Cole Ortiz, played by Freddie Prince Jr . They are a cute couple, but there are secrets there, lots of secrets. But what would 24 and Jack Bauer be without the secrets and intrigue?

Oh and President Taylor is back from Season 8 of 24. And of course there is an assassination plot against a middle-eastern leader who is trying to broker a deal with the United States for nuclear-disarmament and for the US to lower economic sanctions. He also happens to have a wife that seems to openly hate him behind closed doors, a press-badge yielding lover that is the framed terrorist at CTU, and a brother that really is in on the assassination plot.

All this and Jack Bauer is in the middle of it. Instead of hopping on a plane with Kim and her adorable perfect family including a blond haired granddaughter and jetting off to LA, Grandpa Bauer is going to save the world again.
