24 Year-old Oksana Pochepa Says She's the 'Other Woman' in Mel Gibson's Divorce
In an interview with the British newspaper, The Sun, the comely Oksana Pochepa said of her relationship with Gibson, "This is serious and I hope that our union will be real and strong and long-lasting." Mel Gibson's wife of 28 years, Robin Gibson, recently filed for divorce. In a business where people change spouses the way they change underwear, when they are wearing it, the Gibson's had been lauded for their longevity and their devotion to family. This news comes as a shock to many of Gibson's fans and confidantes alike.
It is reported in Us Weekly that Gibson met the 24 year old Russian pop singer when she was hired to write a song for his new film, The Edge of Darkness.
According to anonymous sources who spoke with US Weekly, Gibson and Pochepa tried hard to keep a low profile, leaving on excursions separately and spending time in Gibson's trailer. Rumors were circulating about the two even before Costa Rica. Gibson met up with Pochepa in Mexico this past January to direct a music video by the Russian beauty. Alejandro Alvarez of Estudios Churubusco shared that Mel Gibson brought in all of his own production people to work on the video shoot.
Obviously Mel Gibson had good intentions when he married his wife, as he did so sans prenup. With Mel Gibson's net worth approaching $900 million and the possibility that he is engaged in an extramarital affair; not having a prenup may be a costly choice.

Mel and Oksana aren't the first people to succumb to their passion on set. Perhaps the most famous pair are Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie. Pitt, who was married to Jennifer Aniston at the time and Jolie, deny becoming intimately involved on set but the chemistry between them was undeniable on the set of "Mr. and Mrs. Smith." Soon after the film wrapped the two officially became a couple.
The most recent couple to find themselves on this list is Leanne Rimes and Eddie Cibrian. Rumors of the two keeping company on the set of Nora Roberts, "Northern Lights" circulated widely in the media. Since the movie premiered Eddie Cibrian is said to have reunited with his wife. Leann Rimes has been seen at several high profile events with out her husband, dancer, Dean Sheremet.
Rather than react to the rumors, Rimes chose to take the high road. Under questioning from "Today" show host Matt Lauer, about her alleged affair with Eddie Cibrian, Leann refused to take the bait. Rimes deflected Lauer's questions and brought the focus back to her new project, a book called "What I Can Not Change". This is also the name of one Leann Rimes most popular and most heartfelt songs.
Other notables who have mixed business with pleasure include Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon. Nick Cannon was previously engaged to supermodel Selita Ebanks, but the two parted company. Shortly after, he appeared in Mariah Carey's Bye Bye video. The pair married in a quiet Island ceremony.
Funny girl and Regis Philbin sidekick Kelly Ripa met her husband, Mark Consuelos, while playing goth chick Hailey Vaughn on All My Children. Ripa shares, "I have had a crush on my husband since I met him."
Hard To Resist
While The Gibson's divorce is shocking because of the longevity of their union, it's not surprising. Looks and sex appeal are tools in the Hollywood star's toolbox. It's always interesting to me that there isn't more infidelity in Hollywood. Putting sexually attractive people together in roles that call for them to kiss and cuddle or in situations where they spend long hours together and expecting them to not form an attraction to one another seems counterintuitive.

Post a CommentI think there are two reasons why there isn't more infidelity: 1) there is more infidelity and discretion works for the two involved; and 2) the ones who don't cheat understand that they're just acting and keep it professional. As regards 1), if you don't think stars can keep a secret, look at all the tell-all books stars put out when their careers are over (retired for awhile), they're washed up (and/or looking for money), and they're near death and just want to tell their story.
Your observation about there not being more infidelity in Hollywood is spot on. I too have often wondered how two actors whose roles demand that they make out like nobody's business (scenes are shot multiple times so that translates to multiple kisses :-D)could not help but get the hots for one another (reportedly, though, Debra Winger and Richard Gere could not stand each other when they filmed "An Officer and a Gentleman" -- there's alway going to be an exception to the rule). Still, I'm saddened that Mel Gibson's long marriage is coming to an end.
