25 Best Cartoon Couples of TV

Who are the 25 best cartoon couples on TV? From mismatched pairs to matches made in toon heaven, here's a look at some of the best cartoon character couples of TV:

Joker and Harley Quinn - This adorable quirky blonde clown and her beloved "Mr. J" are definitely one of the best villain couples in cartoon history (although some "Batman: The Animated Series" fans might have enjoyed watching the times Harley Quinn teamed up with Poison Ivy more).

Popeye and Olive Oyl - They're one of the oldest cartoon character couples of TV, so it's no wonder they have their fair share of issues (namely Olive Oyl running off with brute Bluto and Popeye having to win her back, or Olive Oyl having to be rescued by Popeye when Bluto kidnaps her). Even after all these years, what the guys see in the flaky beanpole broad is still a mystery.

Fred and Wilma, Betty and Barney, and Pebbles and Bamm-Bamm - Fred and Barney may be the male cartoon characters responsible for the popular trend of pairing overweight, trouble-making men with thin, way-too-patient women. But despite their differences, these modern Stone Age families made it work, and their kids made one of the cutest cartoon couples on TV (Pebbles and Bamm-Bamm do eventually get married).

Saddam Hussein and Satan - One of the most evil TV couples ever comes to us from the twisted minds of the "South Park" creators. As it turns out, Saddam is actually the abusive, domineering one in the relationship, and things just don't work out for the two in the end (Satan ultimately banishes Saddam to Heaven so the two won't meet up in Hell anymore).

Kiff and Amy - And here's one of the best cartoon couples consisting of different life forms. The "Futurama" pair is composed of the incredibly cute human Amy and poor little Kiff, the slimy, sensitive underling of cocky Captain Zaff Brannigan. They might be one of the strangest TV couples of all time, but they were making human-alien relationships hip long before "Avatar" came along.

George and Jane Jetson - Aren't these two just the perfect futuristic couple? She loves to spend his money, and he loves to make money by slacking off as much as possible at work.

Boris and Natasha - These baddies from "The Rocky and Bullwinkle Show" might be inept, but you've got to love the way Natasha towers over her partner in crime, making them another of the best villainous cartoon TV couples.

Buster and Babs - Buster and Babs Bunny might not have ever called themselves boyfriend and girlfriend on "Tiny Toon Adventures", but the way they always had to point out that they had "no relation" signified that there was something there (besides, who else are you going to date when you're the only two bunnies in school?).

Peggy and Hank Hill - Outspoken substitute Spanish teacher Peggy Hill might be a bit too proud and loud for her good ol' boy husband Hank on "King of the Hill", but he can be passionate, too (as long as the subject is propane and propane accessories or football).

Lois and Peter Griffin - These two "Family Guy" stars are definitely one of the most mismatched TV couples of all time, but somehow the beauty and the obnoxious jerk just work.

Kosmo and Wanda - The wand-wielding stars of "The Fairly OddParents" are yet another of the cartoon couples here that pair a more intelligent woman with an idiotic guy (I guess animated women just want to feel mentally superior to their mates, no matter what the consequences may be).

Robin and Starfire - The relationship between these two on "Teen Titans" might dispel those nasty rumors about poor Robin once and for all.

Brittany and Kevin - Well, not all animated women are smarter than their guys after all. These two "Daria" characters might have the lowest combined I.Q. out of all the cartoon couples here, but everyone knows the dumb jock and ditzy cheerleader are simply meant to be.

Leela and Fry - These crazy kids with their orange and purple hair just belong together! They're another of the cartoon character couples here with mismatched mental capacities, but what Fry lacks in brains and physique he makes up for in trying to be sweet.

Brock Sampson and Molotov Cocktease - These "Venture Bros." characters will likely never become an official couple, but it is sure fun to watch them work out their sexual frustration in the form of epic battles.

Cyclops and Jean Grey - These "X-Men" mutants with super powers are one of the biggest power couples in the cartoon world.

Marge and Homer Simpson - One of the longest-lasting TV couples definitely deserves a spot on this list for proving that all the cartoon pairings of stupid slobs and smart, pretty women really can work (although I notice that most of their wives are stay-at-home moms, which might have something to do with why they stick around).

Selina Kyle and Bruce Wayne - Catwoman and Batman make the purrfect pair in "Batman: The Animated Series".

Fred and Daphne - There was a reason these two always paired up together in the "Scooby Doo" cartoons.

George and Ursula - the dim-witted star of "George of the Jungle" is one lucky fella; not many women would stick with a guy that lives in the jungle and calls them "Fella".

Francine and Stan Smith - This ultra-conservative couple strives hard to lead the ideal American life. Luckily, living with a liberal daughter, dorky son, talking goldfish, and fabulous alien makes this quite difficult for them on "American Dad!".

Kendra and Lester Krinklesac - And here's another of the cartoon couples trying to represent America on TV. With his love of shooting and cooking any rascal that moves and her love of eating until she has to get around in a Rascal, they're doing their best to stay true to the red, white, and blue.

Tom and Sarah DuBois - Tom is a lawyer from "The Boondocks" that sometimes seems a bit like Barack Obama in his voice and mannerisms, but he's far too nervous to ever become President of the United States. However, if he didn't have to worry about his wife running away with Usher, he might be a little less stressed out and jumpy.

So as I look back at this list, I realize just how many of the best cartoon couples on TV feature female characters that are much smarter than their mates (maybe there's something to be learned here, ladies).
