25th Anniversary of Dollywood on Hallmark Channel

I am not one of Dolly Parton's biggest fans. I do like her music though and her wholesome qualities. She is also timeless. She did however, get stuck in the 1980's. From her face, down to her wardrobe she looks like she did in the 80's. When I think of Dolly Parton and duets the person that comes to mind is Kenny Rogers. I loved Kenny Rogers' music when I was growing up. He was on the show with Dolly, giving it all they had.

It was great to see Kenny Rogers and Dolly Parton singing like they had in the past. I was shocked and almost dismayed to see how Kenny Rogers has aged. Oh, how I had a crush on that man. Geez, he must be old enough to be my grandfather though.

He has slimmed down and he is trying to stay up to date. The goatee on his face does nothing for the sunken in face that slightly resembles the man I heard sing. I think time is catching up to all of us now.

One entertainer that looked humbled and not quite sure what to do with herself was Miley Cyrus in Dolly's presence. Whether you like her or think she should take vocal lessons, she kept up with Dolly Parton in a duet of "Jolene". Of course, Dolly can almost make anyone sound good. Miley was a little flat, but with Dolly's booming voice it almost went unnoticed.

Appearing in another duet with her was Billy Ray Cyrus. I now see where Miley gets her voice from. Billy Ray Cyrus sang the duet that Porter used to sing with Dolly Parton about her father being a preacher. It was a lovely song, sort of, but any time they sang together the timing was off and he had a flat voice as well. Dolly Parton did not have much luck hiding it.

All in all, the show was good. If you like Dolly Parton or Kenny Rogers you have to tune in for the encore presentation on Hallmark Channel.
