Jet Ski races come to Lake Havasu City, Arizona, U.S.A. with the 27th Annual International Jet Sports Boating Association (IJSBA) World Finals. This is touted as the world's largest personal watercraft competition. Six-hundred-plus jet ski racers will come to the annual sporting event from over 40 states and 36 nations. Dates for the IJSBA World Finals are slated for October 4 - 12th, 2008.

Crazy Horse Campground, located on the Island in Lake Havasu City, will be the official headquarters of the world finals, with booths and vendors set up for the spectators and participants.

The opening day of the World Finals coincides with the Big Boys Toys show scheduled for October 4, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. along Main Street (McCulloch Blvd.), from Smoketree Avenue to Mulberry Avenue, Lake Havasu City. This is an open air market exhibit of motorcycles, ATV's, boats, cars, mini-rails, trucks and other big boy toys. Vendors with items such as clothing, accessories, and electronics will be on board for the one day event. While the display may appeal to those attending the jet ski races, race times on that day are from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., which encompasses the entire timeframe of the Big Boys Toys event.

It will be a busy week in Lake Havasu City, with the jet ski races, a local fishing derby, boating regattas, an art show and the Big Boy Toys event.. The IJSBA World Finals have been held in Lake Havasu City since 1982, and is considered by the International Jet Sports Boating Association to be the pinnacle event of the international personal watercraft racing calendar. The International Jet Sports Boating Association is the internationally sanctioned entity for personal watercraft competitive racing.

Rules governing the various personal watercraft sanctioned competitions and events, along with standards, regulations, and eligibility are under the dominion of the International Jet Sports Boating Association (IJSBA). Affiliate organizations, associations and members are located in some fifty countries, while the headquarters are located in California, U.S.A.

The IJSBA sanctions more than 750 amateur and professional events each year. Events are held worldwide, and meet the needs of varying divisions and classes. Some of the events help the IJSBA to qualify racers who will be representing their country in the World Finals held in Lake Havasu City.

For those personal watercraft enthusiasts who would like to enter the racing arena, it is advised that they contact local promoters for race and qualification information. There is a site that lists promoters in the United States, and another website that lists international affiliates.
