If you are looking for a used book store that may carry new books in addition to CDs and DVDs for your holiday shopping needs there are three locally independent businesses who also sell used books. Perhaps you want to get rid of your used books to make way for news ones. You can either sell or trade them in. Sometimes buying a used book is even better than a new one.

As luck would have it there are three of the best used book stores in Tampa Bay that carry exactly what you need. No more going over to the bigger chains that sell only new merchandise. 1.) Haslam's - St. Petersburg, Florida

Ever since 1933 during the Depression this book store started out as a used book and magazine store. Now it has evolved over the decades to become the premiere book store in all of Tampa Bay for both new and used books. They do buy used books during certain days on designated hours. 2.) Book Swap of Carrollwood - Tampa, Florida

This independently owned used bookstore in the Carrollwood section of north Tampa also features new books as well as audio books. The way their book swapping or trading works is you bring in a used book or audio CD for a store credit. The credit can only be used on other used books and audio CDs. You cannot use the credit on their new books.

These store credits do not expire. For paperbacks you receive credit of 25% of the purchase price up to $2.00 per book. Audio books are 20% of the original price up to $5.00 and newly released hardcovers is up to $4.00. They do not pay cash for books. You can find Book Swap of Carrollwood at 13144 N. 3.) Mojo Books & Music - Tampa, Florida

They are Tampa's only independent used book and record store featuring vinyl, CDs and DVDs. You'll also find selected new merchandise too. Not only do they offer trade-ins and store credits, but they purchase used books as well. If you go for a store credit, instead of cash, they add 40% to its value. Incidentally, book credits can only be for other used books.

All you do is simply bring in your used books during their store hours. Mojo Books and Music is open seven days a week.
