Are you looking for coordinating Halloween costumes for your daughter and son this year? If your daughter enjoys being the big sister, then these costumes will feature her in a starring role with little brother as a cute sidekick. You can easily adapt these costumes to work for twins or for multiple children.

Great thematic Halloween costumes are not only cute for family scrap books, but are also very good options if your children are participating in a costume contest. These coordinating costumes will be sure to inspire your family to have a hauntingly happy Halloween!

Big Sister, Little Brother Halloween Costume Idea 1: Little Miss Muffet and Spider
Adapt this classic tale for your children this year by dressing your daughter as Miss Muffet and your son as the spider. To make the Miss Muffet costume, purchase a plain blue or pink dress and a white lacy hat. Draw a spider on the front of the dress using black fabric paint. Braid your daughter's hair or purchase a Halloween wig.

For the spider, use black or grey sweatpants and sweatshirt. Use painted cardboard or card stock to make the legs and attach them to the sweatshirt. If you have a sewing machine, you can make the legs by sewing tubes of black or grey fleece. Turn them inside out and stuff with fiber fill. Attach to the sweatshirt.

If you want to buy these costumes online, try Buy Costumes for Little Miss Muffet for about $42. Check out Halloween Express to purchase an adorable spider costume for your little man for about $25.

Big Sister, Little Brother Halloween Costume Idea 2: Goldilocks and Baby Bear
Children love the story of Goldilocks and the three bears. This Halloween costume theme can be easily adapted for multiple children by using additional bear costumes.

For Goldilocks, purchase or make a blue dress and white apron. Add a decorative headband, and draw a bear on the apron using fabric paints to complete the look.

For baby bear, purchase tan or brown sweatpants and a sweatshirt. Make a bear ear headband by cutting out 2 ear shapes from brown felt and gluing them to a purchased plastic headband.

To buy pre-made costumes, check out Buy Costumes for a cute Goldilocks outfit from about $25 and a matching baby bear costume from about $20.

Big Sister, Little Brother Halloween Costume Idea 3: Safari Guide or Zoo Keeper and Monkey
Indulge your daughter's adventurous spirit by creating a safari guide or zoo keeper costume. She can be an intrepid explorer while her little brother can be a cute jungle monkey!

Create a safari explorer costume by purchasing khaki pants, skirt, and hat. Accent the costume with a water canteen, compass, black belt, and explorer patch.

Make a monkey costume from tan sweatpants and sweatshirt. Cut an oval shape for the monkey's tummy from cream fabric. Glue or sew the tummy onto the sweatshirt. Use Halloween face paints to create a monkey's face on your little guy. Make monkey ears from tan felt and glue them to a plastic headband.

You can purchase an adorable girl's safari costume from Wonder Costumes for about $25. Just Kid Costumes has terrific monkey costumes available in infant and toddler sizes for about $36.
