On average you can expect these granite options for resurfacing your kitchen counters to save you about 2/3's of what traditional granite kitchen counters would cost you.
Granite Kitchen Counter Resurfacing Idea #1: Granite Transformations
I recently used a company called Granite Transformations to transform my cheap kitchen counters into affordable granite kitchen counters. Basically, the lay a sheet of granite over your existing kitchen counters. It cost me bout 1/3 of what traditional granite kitchen counters would have cost me.
They came to my home, measured my counters, made a template, and then installed the granite I choose right into place. There was no mess from remove all of the old counters and I did not have ot play a ton of extra money to have someone build a plywood top for support on my cabinets.
I have about 66 square feet of counters in my home and the cost came out to about $3000. It was well worth it! Plus, this type of granite counter is not only really granite, but it comes with a life time warranty. Try finding that with a slab of granite.
It works just like the slab granite counters. It is heat and scratch distant, but does not have to be sealed.
Granite Kitchen Counter Resurfacing Idea #2: Granite Tile
So, if you want to save even more money, then try using granite tiles. Often granite tiles can be applied directly over an old laminate kitchen counters.
If you already have a tile counter in your kitchen, you will need to remove it and start fresh. Be sure to also use a matching grout, so you get a more slab like look with your granite tile.
Granite Kitchen Counter Resurfacing Idea #3: Paint
Ok, this one is not real granite, but is the cheapest. You can use oil based paints to paint a faux granite look onto your laminate kitchen counters. Be sure to sand and prime your kitchen counters first.
After you apply the faux granite paint technique you will also need to seal it with oil based polyurethane. If you take the time to practice painting a great faux paint technique, then this can be a great look and last for years with the sealer applied.

Post a CommentDo you REALLY have to remove existing tile on the counter top before putting granite tiles in place? The existing 'bathroom white' tiles are very stuck to the plywood underneith.
