3 Burger Joints in Auburn, Alabama

Nothing like a Good Old Fashioned American Burger

J G Hodnette
Hamburgers are a part of the American cuisine. So, finding a place in your area that serves a good one is definitely a good idea. Sometimes we all just feel like a good burger. These three great locations will not only satisfy this craving but also have you coming back for more. I highly recommend all three.

Cheeburger Cheeburger

Started in Sanibel, Florida, this fantastic restaurant specializes in great hamburgers and milkshakes in the old burger joint style. This place has fun atmosphere with funny signs all over the walls and a laid back attitude. If you just want to hang out with your friends, get a burger and maybe experiment with some milkshake flavor combinations then this is the place for you. On top of all of that, this place is not very expensive, meaning you'll be able to have a good time without worrying about the check. The restaurant also features an eating contest where contestants try to finish a 20 ounce burger called the "pounder." If you manage this, you get your name on the wall of fame. Sounds like a fun night if you think you can handle it.

Amsterdam Cafe

Though not a burger joint, per se, Amsterdam Cafe has some excellent burgers. This restaurant has a delicate balance between being a nice place and a cool place. The prices reflect this. Though certainly affordable, these burgers will cost you a bit more than a place like Cheeburger. Still, if you want a quality burger than you may decide that Amsterdam Cafe is the place for you. This restaurant has a very cool atmosphere very unlike a relaxed burger joint. The walls feature changed self portraits of Van Gogh including one of him wearing an Auburn Football uniform. The lighting is low, the colors are dark woods and rich colors, and the service is very nice. Still, if it is the classic burger atmosphere you're looking for, this is not the place.

Five Guys Burgers and Fries

Started in Arlington, Virginia, this burger joint sells hamburgers, hot dogs, and french fries the way you'd expect them to be served at a burger joint. The Five Guys attitude is bigger is better. The "regular" burger consists of two beef patties, while a "little" has the standard one patty. Five Guys offers a large selection of toppings for the burgers at little or no charge and each table has a large container of complimentary peanuts. The place is decorated like an old school diner with red and white coloring. Voted many times as "best burger," the taste will not disappoint. The only bad thing to say about them is that they aren't terribly good for you, being high in fat, but they do hit the spot!
