Christmas decorations can be expensive each year. There are a variety of cheap Christmas decoration ideas that can help cut down the expense of the holiday. I'm going to discuss 3 Christmas decorating ideas that can not only help you save money, but can possibly start some new family traditions that will help bring the entire family together each year.

1. Make your Own Christmas Decorations
Grab some paper, glue. scissors and glitter and start decorating. Use colored construction paper to cut out decorations like Christmas balls. snowflakes, Christmas trees, bows or any other decoration that you want. Use the glue and glitter to sparkle them up, cut a small hole at the top and use a ribbon to hang them on the tree.

You can also string popcorn or use paper to make rings and loop them together to hang around the tree like garland. These are great Christmas activities that the kids and parents can have fun doing together. Forget about having to budget for decorations and get creative by making your own this year.

2. Go for a Christmas Walk in the Woods
No, I'm not crazy! You can find greenery, pine cones and even some berries that can be used to make Christmas decorations and you never even have to go to a store. These can be used to make center pieces, wreaths and even tree ornaments. Pine cones can be kept natural or you can spray paint them silver, gold or any other color that will match your Christmas decorations.

3. Shop for Christmas Decorations after Christmas
If you aren't a creative artsy person that enjoys making their own decorations, that's okay. Shop for next years Christmas decoration after Christmas. All the stores cut the prices on all their leftover Christmas items after the holiday. So you can get many of the traditional items for Christmas decorating at hugely discounted prices.
