3 Clay Crafts and Ideas to Sell on Etsy

Ann Siper
Clay crafts and clay creations make an awesome handmade product to sell on Etsy or on your online craft store. Whether you like to work with polymer clay, stoneware clay, or air drying clay you can make some awesome items perfect for selling on Etsy.

Here is a look at 3 ideas for crafts made from clay that could be sold on Etsy or your online craft store:

Clay Crafts & Etsy Shop Idea #1: Ring Holders

Everyone wears rings or at least owns some rings, so why not make ring holders out of clay. The great thing about this idea is that it can be made from almost any type of clay. Polymer clay can be used in your home; with stoneware clay can be used in the studio.

Create fun and whimsical items to hold the clay. Hands with fingers are a fun idea too! Animals are another idea. A giraffe with its long neck is an awesome shape for a ring holder made from clay.

Clay Crafts & Etsy Shop Idea #2: Pendants

Clay necklace pendants are already present on Etsy, but they are simple too cute to not mention them. You can cut out shapes from clay and make a hole in the top for the necklace. Again, this one works well with polymer clay or stoneware kiln fired clay.

The key here is to make impressions in the clay so that there is something visually appealing to look at on the clay! Go natural here. Leave, natural texture from fabric and leaves, and even impressions made from wood look awesome.

Once fired or set you can ad a leather cord or a simple silver necklace to the pendant.

Clay Crafts & Etsy Shop Idea #3: Wall Vases or Wall Pockets

Clay wall pockets are one of my personal favorite ways to decorate my home. You can hand build your wall pockets or simple throw them on the wheel.

It works best to use the kiln fired stoneware or porcelain clay for these. This is simple more durable and perfect for this look.

You can get as creative as you wish with your clay wall pockets. Be sure to compare prices from other online craft stores selling them so you stay competitive. These make wonderful gifts, so people can buy them for themselves or give them to Mom for Mother's Day.

Tip: Try making small wall pockets and packaging them in sets of 3. Sometimes people are more willing to buy a set than a simple individual piece. A set fills up the wall more and they get more bang for their money.

There REALLY need to be pictures here if you are giving directions for VISUAL PROJECTS! Some of these sound terrific, but we'll never know or be inclined to make them if we can't see what you're talking about! Example: When we see a topic called "3 best eyecatching garage sales" - the assumption is that there will be PICTURES of the EYE catching item.
