3 of the Coolest Energy Saving Light Devices for Your Home

Save Precious Energy!

Dina Montgomery
Everybody wants to save energy for the things we use every day, and we use our lights in our home every day. So what could be better than to save on something that we already use from day to day? Not only will we be able to save energy, these devices will also make our lives a little bit safer as well. Here is some really easy energy saving light devices that you can put to use in your home right away.

Energy saving light device #1: You can program a light in your home to turn on and off automatically.

By simply replacing a light switch with a programmable wall switch timer, you won't have to worry about turning the lights on manually when you come home in the dark at night, or trying to free a hand full of groceries to switch on a light. By installing this energy saving light device, it will turn all of the lights that are controlled by a particular switch on and off automatically. This device will be able to light darken stairwells during the night for potential bathroom runs, or turn the lamp on and off to fool cat burglars while you're are on vacation or away for the night. This device can also control the front porch light during prime visiting hours lighting the way for your guests.

Energy saving light device # 2: Motion activated switching lights.

At times when your hands aren't free and it would be especially difficult to switch on a light manually, this is where a motion activated switch light would come in handy. By having the lights turn on and off automatically when you walk into or out of a room would be great, and would save energy as well because no lights would be left on when you have left the room. Simply replace your current light switch with a motion detector light switch. These devices are especially useful for rooms where you have to grope in the dark to locate the switch, such as the garage or any dangerous area where good light is crucial, such as stairwells. These devices also have standard on and off switch positions as well.

Energy saving light device # 3: Motion activated porcelain lights.

This handy device is perfect for use in storage closets or any type of storage space in your home. The device is simple to install by screwing in the porcelain light socket and then screwing the bulb back into the unit. The device works by containing a motion detector that can detect any movement up to twelve feet away and turns on the light, and the light will stay on for at least four minutes, turning itself off after that time so you won't have to worry about wasted energy.

These devices can be purchased at most home improvement and warehouse stores; they will approximately be priced around $20 to $40 dollars, a great price for saving energy and peace of mind.

The future is here! I still remember when that 'Clap On, Clap Off' light switch thingy first came out. Think I'll pass on the motion sensor inside the house, tho. I'm a slow moving animal and the light would be going out on me all the time. ;o)

We really like the lights that can be programmed to turn on and off automatically. Also, love light bulbs that turn off after people leave the room for awhile.
