Dallas Pumpkin Patches: Autumn at the Dallas Arboretum
Dallas Arboretum
8525 Garland Road
Dallas, Texas
(214) 515-6500
Unlike our neighbors to the north, residents of Texas do not often get to enjoy a mass of fall foliage in time for Halloween. The arboretum has many striking displays of autumnal colors, including mums, perfect for fall photos. The Storybook Pumpkin Village features four pumpkin houses inspired by popular children's books. Visitors can walk through the structures covered with and surrounded by pumpkins and gourds of various sizes. Daily events vary, but the arboretum offers a petting zoo, hay bale maze, tours, live music and face painting.
Pumpkins are available for purchase in the Tom Thumb Pumpkin Patch. Visit the Dallas Arboretum website for admission prices and additional details.
Dallas Pumpkin Patches: Dallas Farmers Market
1010 South Pearl Expressway
Dallas, Texas
Although not a traditional pumpkin patch, the farmers market is a classic place for families to go in search of the perfect Halloween pumpkin. There is no admission fee and, depending on your starting point, the Dallas Farmers Market is a closer destination than most prominent pumpkin patches. As a bonus, experiencing the sights and smells of farm-fresh produce might inspire your child to try new foods.
Dallas Pumpkin Patches: Flower Mound Pumpkin Patch
Double Oak Ranch
5100 Cross Timbers Road
Flower Mound, Texas
(817) 430-4536
Weather permitting, the Flower Mound Pumpkin Patch is open daily during the month of October. A popular and, oftentimes crowded, destination, this pumpkin patch offers many free family-friendly activities. Attractions include bounce houses, hay bale mazes, face painting and hay rides. Little ones have their own bounce house in addition to a hay bale maze with shorter walls. Visitors are also welcome to pack a lunch and dine at the picnic tables. There is no admission charge and all of the activities are free. In keeping with the community spirit, visitors can donate canned goods for Christian Community Action in lieu of admission.
Much more than a pumpkin patch, the Flower Mound Pumpkin Patch sells a variety of fall goodies, including hay bales, gourds and corn stalks. Wagons, also free, are available to use while shopping or hauling pumpkins to your car.
