3 Easy Felt Christmas Crafts

Linda StCyr
Christmas crafts are fun when it is cold outside. Felt Christmas crafts are easy to do and can keep the attention of a 4 year old or a 10 year old. You will probably enjoy doing them too. These three felt Christmas crafts can be used to decorate your fireplace mantle, your Christmas tree and/or your house.

Felt Christmas Craft- Snowflake Ornament-

You will need:

White Felt (4in x 4in square)

6 Mini White Pom Poms or Cotton Balls

5 Toothpicks

White Craft Paint/ small paint brush

Glitter

Craft Glue

Scissors

White Ribbon

How to Make a Felt Christmas Craft Snowflake:

Cut out the white felt into the shape of a snowflake. Take one cotton ball and slide each toothpick through it so that it forms a wheel like shape. Add a cotton ball or craft pom pom to each toothpick end sticking out from the center cotton ball. Glue the cotton balls onto the felt that is cut out like a snowflake. Use the white craft paint to paint the toothpicks white. Add a dab of glue to each pom pom or cotton ball. Sprinkle glitter on top. Let the glue and paint dry. Cut a small hole in the top of the snowflake ornament. Slide a piece of ribbon through and tie. Hang on your Christmas tree.

Felt Christmas Craft- Present Ornament-

What You Need:

1 Piece Green Felt (4in by 4in)

1 Piece of Cardboard (4in by 4in)

2 Pieces of Red Felt (1in by 4in)

Small Piece of White Felt (cut into a bow)

1 Piece of Yarn

Craft Glue

How to Make a Felt Christmas Craft Present Ornament:

Glue the green piece of felt flat onto the piece of cardboard. Smooth with fingers to make sure there are no bubbles from the glue. Glue the strips of red felt to form a plus sign on the green felt. Make a loop with the yarn so that each end is at the top of the present. Glue the white felt bow on top of the yarn ends. This will keep the yarn in place. Let dry and then hang on a Christmas tree or up near the stockings hanging from the fireplace mantle. (Tip: Let kids who can use scissors with supervision cut out the felt in different present sizes for varying Present Ornaments. Various colors can be used.)

Felt Christmas Craft- Santa Decoration-

What You Need:

1 Paper Plate

2 Sheets Red Felt

Craft Eyes

Cotton Balls (a bag full)

2 Red Buttons and 1 Small, Black Button

Craft Glue

How to Make a Felt Christmas Craft Santa Decoration-

Cut out a piece of felt in a V shape to make a Santa hat. Glue the triangle bottom to the top of the paper plate. Glue the craft eyes onto the paper plate and the red buttons onto the paper plate in the cheek area. Add the small, black button to the center of the plate because Santa has a button nose! Use the cotton balls to create the liner on Santa's hat by gluing them onto the plate and the bottom portion of the felt. Glue cotton balls around the plate to act as Santa's hair. Cut out a piece of red felt into the shape of a mouth and glue in place. Add cotton balls around the mouth to act as Santa's mustache and beard. Use lots of cotton balls and add one to the top of Santa's hat. Let all the glue dry. Hang on the windows for a Christmas decoration, under the mistletoe or add a piece of string to hang it on the Christmas tree.
