3 Easy Games to Play with Your Preschooler

Spend Time and Not Money with Your Little One

Is your preschooler bored at home sometimes? Be creative and find some games to play that won't require you to spend money, only time. I am always looking for ways to play with my daughter and to expand her imagination. Here are 3 games you can play with your little one.

Game idea #1

Find the treasure:

I always draw a map on a sheet of paper and tell her to look through each spot on the map and find a clue, once she has all the clues she has to put them together and if she gets it right she wins a prize, either candy or ice cream.

Here is how you do it, get a piece of paper and draw something from your living room, this will be the first spot for her to look. You can draw the couch and hide the clue under the cushion. Then draw something from the kitchen, like the microwave and put the second clue in the microwave, and so on. You can make as many spots as you want.

As for the clues I always give her a puzzle, like a word that I cut up and put each piece in the different spots, and then she has to put the pieces together to get the right word. This also helps develop her mind skills.

Game idea #2

What starts with the letter :

This game is really simple but so much fun for the kids. Cut out the letters of the alphabet one by one and put them in a basket. You can play this inside or outside. If outside, ask your child to pick from the basket and to look at the letter. Then tell them to place the letter on something that begins with it. For example if they pick letter "T" they should place it on a tree, but to make it more fun give them a certain amount of time to find something. You can give your child 10 seconds or however much you'd like so they can rush looking for something. This helps them remember letters and is great to play. Try not to put hard letters like z and x, I don't think they will be able to find them unless you have a zebra or x-ray machine.

Game idea #3

Drawing game:

You will need blank paper for this one, all you do is ask your child to draw something and you will need to guess what it is. Then it is your turn to draw and have her guess. Whoever wins gets to decide what book to read at bedtime or what movie to watch.

Always keep your child busy with something to do, even if it's letting her do your hair and makeup or dressing up in silly clothes. Kids have imagination but need a little more help to make it grow. I am always creating ways to have fun with my daughter, we even bake cupcakes and paint hearts and faces on the icings with colored markers made especially for icing. Be creative and remember to have fun, they will love you more for it.
