3 Easy No-Wash Hairstyles

We've all had that morning. The one where you either don't have time or don't want to bother with washing your hair, and now it doesn't look anywhere as good as you'd like. The good news is that there are plenty of things you can do to make your hair look nice without washing it. In fact, if your hair is anything like mine, it benefits from not washing it everyday. Natural oils keep the hair from drying out, so it can be beneficial.

The Ponytail

This is by far the easiest style to do when your hair isn't looking its best. But rather than leaving it just as a plain ponytail, you can always dress it up. You can put a headband on that adds style, and also hides any grease problems you may be having. Headbands aren't just for the gym either. If you go to any jewelry store such as Claire's you can find great headbands. Just make sure it's work appropriate if that's where you are headed, or dress it up for the evening if you are out for a night on the town.

Tousle, Tousle

This is one of my favorites. It doesn't work too well if you wake up late, because it involves minimum planning. Right before you go to sleep, spritz your hair with water to make it damp. If you have long hair, separate your hair into two sections and braid them into pigtails. If you have shorter hair, braid it into one braid in the back of your head. The next morning, take the braids out, and tousle with your fingers. Use a curling iron to fix any strays or hairs that didn't quite turn out. Use a mousse if you need and minimum hairspray to hold your hair into place.

Fake It

If your hair is looking a mess, there are a couple ways to fake it. Take baby powder and sprinkle it into your hair. Let it sit for a few minutes, about five. After that, take a plastic hairbrush and brush out all of the powder. Shake out any left over. The baby powder will absorb oil, and more importantly make your hair look soft. The same trick works for baking soda. Follow the same steps, but don't rub the soda into your scalp. Brush it out with a comb and style your hair just as you'd like it!
