3 Favorite Internet Music Videos that Went Viral

Susan Boyle, Paul Potts, and Lin Yu Chun Make Us Root for the Underdog!

I am not much for you tube but I have to tell you, when it comes to the underdog winning I love to watch! That is why my favorite top 3 viral internet videos all have to do with music and the underdog winning!

Susan Boyle -

With over ninety million views, my top favorite viral internet video is one I am sure everyone has seen. I still cry when I watch it. When Susan Boyle took the stage on "Britain's Got Talent" April 11th, 2009 Simon Cowell didn't even try to hide his frustration at having to waste yet one more second of his time on this frumpy old maid who stood before him. Simon asked a few quick questions and then let her sing. What followed was amazing.

Susan sang "I Dreamed a Dream" from Les Miserable's. When she opened her mouth the most angelic voice boomed forth. Everyone on the panel was enchanted. Simon's jaw dropped, Amanda teared up and piers bowed his head as everyone in the audience cheered, clapped, and jumped to their feet.

Over two and half minutes of thunderous applause and clapping followed. Susan ended up coming in second but, because of her appearance on "Britain's Got Talent" and the internet video that went viral moments after her audition, Susan went on to produce a record titled "I Dreamed a Dream." On November 29th 2009 Susan's album reached number one in the UK selling 410,000 copies in its first week making it the fastest selling album of the year in the UK and the biggest selling debut album of any artist ever in the UK.

Paul Potts -

With almost 65 million views, my second favorite's viral internet video is Paul Potts, also a contender for the "Britain's Got Talent" show who sang "Nessun Dorma." On March 17th 2007 Paul sang to a cheering crowd. Paul received a standing ovation. The former mobile phone salesman became an opera great overnight as his audition video went viral almost immediately.

Paul used his prize money from winning "Britain's Got talent" to fix his teeth which were a constant source of embarrassment for him. He now has the time to indulge his two main passions, singing and charity work. He is currently raising money to help people in Haiti and he continues to sing.

Lin Yu Chun -

One week after Susan Boyle hit the scene Lin Yu Chun of Taiwan sang "I Will Always Love You" on a Taiwanese singing competition called "Super Star Avenue". Lin sang the song just as masterfully as Whitney Houston who originally made the song famous. His audition video went viral almost immediately and with over one million hits it proves to still be a favorite. His voice control and inflection were flawless as he nailed ever nuance of the song - almost better than Whitney - which is a bit disturbing considering he is a 23 year old man.

Still, when the underdog wins we all win. Lin was voted off the show but since his internet video went viral he has been dubbed the Taiwanese Susan Boyle and has appeared on many television shows both in America and overseas.
