ASES Family Spring Carnival
On May 14, 2011, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., the ASES Family Spring Carnival will draw large crowds. In addition to circus acts, the annual festival also features a rock-climbing wall, playground equipment, rides, and a bounce house. Families can explore the entire carnival for free and choose the activities where they might want to spend money.
In addition to the typical festival events, this particular carnival also offers arts and crafts activities for children of all ages. From face painting to mask creation, kids can exercise their creativity while their parents mingle with one another and enjoy great food from quality vendors.
Pow Wow Days
For almost 50 years, the annual Pow Wow Days town fair has introduced children to numerous summertime activities while entertaining people of all ages with live performances. This year the theme focuses on family and community spirit, and there are plenty of local businesses signed up as vendors.
This Sacramento summer festival offers free admission, though you will have to cover the $5 parking charge. It will be held at the Orangevale Community Park from May 12 to May 15, and make sure you check out the folks brave enough to take their turn on the mechanical bull.
Celebrate Sacramento
The rich diversity found in Sacramento is the focus of this summer festival, which will be held in Discovery Park on May 21. Live musical performances will draw adults and children alike, and there will be plenty of great food to enjoy while you explore the festival. It starts at noon and runs until 4 p.m., and there may be additional festivals throughout the summer.
The Celebrate Sacramento summer festival is dedicated to highlight local customs and cultures from all walks of life. This is a great chance for kids to get to know people from different Sacramento communities and for families to bond over entertainment and hands-on activities.
Making the Most Out of Sacramento Festivals
Summer festivals are part of life in Sacramento and other cities throughout the United States, but remember that safety comes first. Always practice the buddy system'"one adult with one child, preferably'"and keep in contact with one another throughout the day.
It is also important to wear plenty of sunscreen during summer festivals and to drink water regularly. All of the festivals listed above serve both food and beverages, so make sure your family stays hydrated.
