Activity one: Willow Park. On the west side of Logan, you'll find Willow Park, a large park featuring playgrounds, rodeo grounds, and a zoo. As of this writing, the zoo requests a one dollar donation for each visitor (there is a drop box at the entrance), but this attraction is otherwise completely free. The zoo is small, but good. It houses monkeys, birds, deer, and various other animals. If you take a picnic lunch, you can spend a fun day in Willow Park. The kids can eat, play, and look at the animals. Children can literally spend all day having fun at Willow Park.
Activity two: Logan Canyon. The Canyon located to the east of Logan include several excellent family activities. You can go fishing at First Dam or one of the many other sites along Logan River. You can go enjoy a nature walk at Tony Grove or one of the campsites located in the Canyon. Or you can take the family to Beaver Mountain to go skiing. Easy access to wildlife and outdoor adventure draws many people to Logan. These activities can be a lot of fund for kids. Be sure to take advantage of these natural offerings.
Activity three: Aggie ice cream. Utah State University, located in Logan, itself contains many family-friendly activities. There are drama presentations, sports facilities, and summer camps of various types, all of which can appeal to kids. For me, though, the primary attraction of USU is its famous Aggie ice cream. Stop by the Nutrition and Food Science building on campus to sample some fresh ice cream, or stop at an area grocery store to buy it out of the freezer. I have eaten a lot of ice cream, but Aggie ice cream beats all of its competitors by a long shot. If you stop by the campus location, they will also make it into a shake for you, if you like. Your kids will love it.
Between the Willow Park, Logan Canyon, and any ice cream, there are plenty of fun things to do with kids in Logan, Utah. And don't forget to check out other nearby cities for additional recreational options.
