1. St. Louis Zoo. St. Louis has the best zoo in the Midwest, I have frequently heard called the second-best zoo in the country, behind the San Diego zoo. Unlike other zoos, though, the St. Louis Zoo is free of charge. Anyone can enter this family-friendly attraction without paying admission, thanks to generous corporate sponsorship and private donations. You can have an awfully fun day there seeing the animals, but you will not have time to see all of them. There are a few events within the zoo that charge admission, including the seal show, a 3-D movie, and the petting zoo.
2. Grant's Farm. Another good - and free - place to see animals in St. Louis is Grant's Farm. This attraction is unlike any other in the Midwest. It offers visitors a safari-like drive through a grassy area populated by exotic animals. There are also goats, camels, and llamas to feed, as well as bird and elephant shows to watch. This attraction, which was established and funded by Anheuser-Busch, is very family friendly, with plenty of activities for kids. Visiting this one side can make for a fun day in St. Louis.
3. The Arch. You cannot visit the Midwest, or St. Louis at least, without visiting the world-famous arch. There is a family friendly visitor center underneath the arch from which he may take an elevator up into the arch. The visitor center also includes movies (including a fascinating movie about the construction of the arch) and a museum that focuses on Lewis and Clark and exploration of the West (Lewis and Clark left on their famous journey from St. Charles, I found that borders St. Louis). There are not a lot of activities for kids there, but most children will join the magnitude of the arch itself. A quick visit to the arch can be part of a fun day for a family.
Among major cities, both inside and outside of the Midwest, St. Louis is one of the most family-friendly cities, and there are many fun things to do with kids in St. Louis. The city is full of activities for kids, so it is easy for families to have a fun day there.
