It's Okay... Laugh..

J G Hodnette
The creation of the internet has enabled more information to be readily available for millions of people around the world than ever before. This information, however, does not always come in the form of academic knowledge: sometimes it's just hilarious videos. These three viral videos have each received millions of views. Check out what all the buzz is about. Warning! Crude language is to be expected.

Shoes - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wCF3ywukQYA

This video is a comedy song created by Liam Kyle Sullivan, an American comedian and actor. Shoes is the most popular of a series of comedic music videos created by Sullivan using characters he has created. He plays a stereotypical female teenager by the name of Kelly who only cares about shoes. The video makes fun of modern music videos as well as our current young generation and their negative attitudes towards older individuals and general things around them. The video was somewhat professionally done, and yet still crude enough to seem "done at home." The video has won a People's Choice Award for best user generated video.

Numa Numa Dance - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KmtzQCSh6xk

This video was one of the first viral videos to reach huge audiences. Gary Brolsma inexplicably made himself famous one day by recording himself mouthing and dancing at his computer along with a Romanian song called Dragostea din tei. In less than three months the video had been viewed more than two million times. The dancing and singing of Brolsma is so enthusiastic and energetic that one cannot help but at least smile at it. It is currently the second most viewed video on the internet with 700 million views total. Some have applauded Brolsma for his desire to share his joy with the world via webcam. Others just find him funny.

Leeroy Jenkins - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LkCNJRfSZBU

Every want a glimpse into the World of Warcraft the popular MMORPG (Online video game)? That's what this video gives us. Though staged, this funny video makes fun of World of Warcraft as it simultaneously pretends to be serious. The characters all yell at each other as Leeroy ruins their carefully laid out plan for defeating dragons in the next room. The strong language and general distress of the players just makes it that much funnier. This video later inspired South Park to make a full episode satiring World of Warcraft.
