3 Good Banks in the Northeast United States

Jamie Brown
These days, a good bank seems like an oxymoron. They hit you with all types of fees and charges if you slip up even by a few cents. But there are some banks on the Northeast that are worth mentioning for various features and benefits that they offer.

TD Bank (Formerly Commerce Bank and TD North)

Commerce Bank (now known as TD North) has won numerous JD Power and Associates awards for being the most convenient bank and providing the ultimate in customer satisfaction (Source: "Small Business Owner Satisfaction with Banks Increases Despite Market Turmoil : Commerce Bank (TD Bank) Ranks Highest in Small Business Owner Satisfaction," J.D. Power and Associates, http://www.jdpower.com/corporate/news/releases/pdf/2008223.pdf ). This is because of several very useful benefits offered to bank customers.

For one, Commerce Bank TD Bank customers do not have to pay ATM fees on the TD Bank side when they use a non-TD Bank ATM. Many banks charge their own customers as much as $3 or $4 per transaction when they use an out of network ATM.

Also, TD Bank is open for business seven days a week and on most holidays when other banks are closed. This way customers are able to deposit cash and meet obligations even in tight situations. (Source: http://www.tdbank.com )

Chase Bank

Chase has been operating in the North East for over 130 years, and its roots can be traced back as far as 1799 with the establishment of the Manhattan Company by Aaron Burr. In 1996 it was purchased by Chemical Bank and later merged with J.P. Morgan. This bank is a staple of New York and American history.

Many people like Chase bank because there are so many locations to choose from. You should not have any problem finding a Chase branch or ATM when traveling in the North East United States. According to Chase.com there are over 14,000 Chase ATMS. Chase also has an attractive Zero Liability policy for fraudulent purchases made on your debt or check card. According to their site, they will reimburse you as long as you report the offense promptly. (Source: http://www.chase.com)

Citibank

Citibank is another bank with branches all over the Northeast. Again, people like to do business with Citibank because there are so many ATMs and locations. Also, Citi offers a free Identity Theft Solution to protect, alert, and support their customers. They will help a customer restore his or her identity in a theft situation. Citibank also offers extended hours to meet the needs of customers who can't get away from work before 5pm. (Source: http://www.citibank.com)

While many banks today are suffering and trying to gauge customers of their hard earned money, fortunately there are some who still place a high value on customer satisfaction.
