3 Great Bars in Auburn, Alabama

Nothing like a College Town.

J G Hodnette
For those of the proper age, hanging out at a cool bar with friends, perhaps listening to some good live music, can be a great experience. In Auburn, Alabama there are a lot of bars trying to attract the college crowd. Here is a short list of three bars in Auburn that do a great job.

Auburn Oyster Bar & Grill

Some bars are bars. Others are restaurants that include bars. This is the latter. What is there not love about a place where you can go hang out, listen to some great live music or even do karaoke and at the same time enjoy a fantastic meal? The answer is there is nothing not to love about it--it is what puts Auburn Oyster Bar & Grill on the list. The bartenders are well trained, the servers are well trained, and judging from the food the cooks also have some experience. This is the kind of place that you should go to if you want to cool, pleasant aspect of bar life. This bar is located at 1100 South College Street.

Bodega

Located right on Toomer's Corner, across from Toomer's Drug store, this bar is very popular for the greek organizations. It draws big crowds and has the best draft beer in town according to those who frequent it. It sometimes includes live music on the upstairs patio but no always. Tuesday nights are $2 taco and beer nights, which is a popular combination for the local student body. Located in the old Auburn Bank building, there is something old school about Bodega that gives it an edge over younger bars. Its address is 101 N College St.

Quixote's

For those who want a slightly more Spanish fling to their bar, head to Quixote's. This nice bar has a good staff and a nice clean place. There are big screen TVs good for watching games, especially Auburn Football. The bar includes some nice pool tables, an outdoor patio, and reasonable prices. On top of that it serves some food. They have some cool bands play as well so it is a great place to hear some good music. Less crowded than Bodega and closer than Auburn Oyster Bar & Grill to campus, it is a sort of half-way house for people who want to enjoy good drinks at good prices. Located at 129 N College St just a few hundred yards down from Bodega.

These are just three of the many great bars in the Auburn area that do what a good bar should.

College towns have lots of bars; and good pizza places too.
