Located in the heart of dinky town, the Purple Onion is the favorite Minneapolis coffee haunt of a plethora of students from the University of Minnesota. Many of these students take advantage of the ample outdoor seating and the free Wi-Fi at the most student friendly of the independent coffee shops in Minneapolis. The Purple Onion also serves sandwiches, like the Louie's Italian Combo and the BBQ Pork Sandwich, as well as burgers, quesadillas, a variety of soups and salads, and my personal favorite, thick cut French fries seasoned with sea salt and fresh cracked pepper.
3. 2nd Moon Coffee Café
225 East Franklin Ave
Minneapolis, Minnesota, 55404
(612) 343-4255
2nd Moon Coffee Café features one of the friendliest atmospheres of any independent coffee shop in Minneapolis. Although it is a "coffee café" tea drinkers will be ecstatic at the sight of 2nd Moon's amazing tea selection. The smell and taste of freshly brewed Minneapolis coffee is accompanied by a feast for the eyes in the form of local artwork that adorns the walls and is rotated every month.
If you are looking for a delicious cup of Minneapolis coffee and a relaxing and friendly atmosphere to start your busy day, there is no better place than one of the many fine independent coffee shops in Minneapolis.
