The Hilton Garden Inn is the newest hotel in downtown Detroit's Harmonie Park area. Official hotel press states that the place is aimed at the business traveler but with all of the attractions surrounding it leisure trip takers will appreciate it too. Built in 2003, the tall red brick structure has 198 rooms and 10 stories surrounded by Greektown, The Opera House, The Renaissance Center, Compuware's headquarters Comerica Park and Hart Plaza are not that far away from the hotel as well. The rooms are clean, comfortable and come with a microwave, refrigerator, and coffeemaker. Of course there is the choice of pay-per-view movies and many have boasted of the high-speed internet access. Marble sinks and simple wooden headboards give the large rooms a traditional décor.
Occupants have talked highly of the hotel's swimming pool and friendly staff. The Hunter House restaurant inside the hotel is decorated with two flatscreen TVs and black modern furniture that sets a sexy mood for the dining and drinking area.
There is also The Great American Grill for breakfast type foods and a buffet lunch.
Meetings can be held in their tastefully done boardroom. The freshness and great location attracts regular visitors so if staying is an option making reservations should be done quickly as possible.

Considered the best hotel downtown since its inception, The Atheneum has prime located lodgings. The Greek mythology theme of the hotel and the waterfall in the restaurant evokes a sense of fun and grandness to the environment. Guests herald the hotel's spot away from the noisy action yet in the middle of it at the same time. Jumbo sized suites, urban nightlife views, jacuzzis, well-stocked mini bars, celebrity sightings and 24-hour suite service keeps guests returning for another stay. Greektown Casino is directly across the street and other places such as the Hard Rock Café, Fishbone's Cajun restaurant, Cobo/Joe Louis arenas and numerous clubs and eateries. Valet parking is uncomplicated, the rooms are clean and the staff is friendly. A complimentary shuttle for destinations within a 5-mile radius is at hand. Staying at the Marriot is especially entertaining because it is connected to the Renaissance Center, which now houses GM's corporate headquarters. The RenCen was always a place to go eat, shop and take in a movie when they still had the theater. Now with the renovations to the hotel and the center guests can escape into the entire building
Being that the hotel is right next to the water visitors can look at the Detroit River and Windsor, which can be soothing after the sunset. Location is good because of proximity to places like Hart Plaza, clubs, casinos and eateries. Seldom Blues a jazz-themed fine dining restaurant is at the top of the Renaissance center. The tunnel to Canada is next to the hotel. Those visitors needing to unwind can use the spa or take a swim in the pool. Car rental is also available on site. Gamers will be happy to know that each room comes equipped with a Playstation. Work travelers can use the business center and get their dry cleaning done. Easy and safe parking is another good convenience provided at the Marriot.
