Quick and easy DIY headboards are the perfect project for anyone decorating in a hurry. Each of these simple and easy headboard projects are a fun way to create an affordable headboard in a short amount of time. You will have a whole new look in your bedroom in less than half an hour.

Fast and Easy Headboard Idea #1

Large covered pillows make a wonderful quick and easy headboard for any size bed; 16 Inch square pillows work best for this project. You can buy these large square pillows at stores like Ikea and other home décor shops.

For a custom look you can sew your own slip covers. A great tip for coordinating your look is to buy an extra set of sheets or matching blanket and sew the pillow covers out of these.

Line the large pillows up at the head of the bed just like a headboard for a plush look. You can also attach the pillows to the wall with grommets and screws for a more permanent headboard.

Fast and Easy Headboard Idea #2

Painting a headboard is a fast and cheap headboard that can fit almost any budget as well as skill level. The simplest headboard can be created by taping off a square over the top of the bed. Paint this out in a bold color to really make it pop.

For a more hands on project why not stencil a headboard. You can find many styles of stencils that look like wrought iron. To make this really look authentic stencil the wrought iron up in gray. Let this dry for 24 hours.

Place the same stencil back on top of the gray and move it about ¼ to ½ inch to the right. Now paint again in black. It will give the black wrought iron headboard the look of a shadow and depth.

Fast and Easy Headboard Idea #3

For a free and fast headboard try hitting the back yard or local Public Park. Look for 1 to 2 inch thick branches that are as long as your bed is wide. Break off small branches and leaves that are attached.

Predrill holes through each end and one in the middle of the branch. Now, lightly tack these to your wall. These can also be screwed into your wall.

You can also tack these to a plywood sheet cut to the same width as your bed.

For additional color paint out the plywood sheet. Hang above the bed using picture hanging hooks on the back.
