1. Cost - Perhaps the most important consideration in buying a 2 post lift is the actual cost involved. Nailing down an exact figure can only be determined by the actual model and specifications you are seeking, but a good ballpark idea for this make of lift is going to be in the $1500 to $5000 range. As I mentioned, areas such as the weight capacity you need and the manufacturer you select are all going to help determine the final price.
The biggest tip here is to keep your budget in mind of course, but don't let price be your final determination. The old saying of you get what you pay for is certainly true in the automotive equipment and repair world as well. Try to stick with a major brand name if at all possible.
2. Set Up - When you buy most any brand of 2 post lift, you'll be faced with having to set it up and mount it in your shop or garage. While not impossible to do, you may want to hire this out. Some manufacturers can arrange for installation as well. Your best bet is to discuss this with them before purchasing.
3. Training and Support - It goes without saying that safety and proper training is critical in operating any lift, regardless if is a 2 or 4 post lift, scissor lift, etc. Be sure to know upfront what to expect as far as training. Also, you'll want to know what maintenance is going to be required on the lift.
Having this type of lift in your shop makes it so easy to work underneath any type of car, truck or van. It will help in repairing wheels, shocks, transmissions, exhaust systems and so much more. Used and maintained properly, this type of lift will give you years of trouble free use, and help you to increase your bottom line profits.
