Newspaper delivery
These jobs will pay you about 150/week to throw papers in people's driveways and leave them on their doorsteps. You will be asked to arrive at the newspaper loading dock at about 3 in the morning to tie up the papers and place them in individual plastic bags. Then, you will be given a paper route, and you'll have to get used to locating the houses on your route in the dark of the early morning.
After that, the tossing and placing begins. You'll have from about 4 to 6 to get all of the papers out to each of the houses. Some people will want their newspapers placed in particular spots. Some people will just prefer that their paper not look like it has been tossed on the pavement.
This job is so easy to get because most people who take it end up quitting it after about the first day. So newspaper delivery has very high turnover. But you can take advantage of that. Just don't be one of the ones who can't stick with it. This is one of the easiest jobs on this list to get. You just call up the paper people, and they'll tell you to come in tomorrow. It's as simple as that.
Grocery store cashier
This job will pay you about minimum wage and right now, that's somewhere between and 8 dollars in most states. Your primary duties will involve moving UPC labels across a scanner and placing various food and household items in a grocery bag. You'll need to be able to stand up for long periods of time. You'll need to have a high level of patience to deal with demanding stay-at-home moms, kids who aren't old enough to go to school yet, and people who sometimes just haven't been taught good manners, but they still need to feed their kids.
So you might get yelled at because you didn't process someone's coupons right. Just be prepared. To get this job, you might have to take a little online test, but if you answer it like you are a go-go customer service person beyond a shadow of a doubt, you've got yourself a job. Just show up for the interview and be polite. There's high turnover in this job too so be a person who can really stick it out.
Telemarketer
Ever seen those ads on craigslist that ask you if you have any phone experience? That's the job of a telemarketer. Telemarketers sell different products over the phone like mortgages, car insurance, or anything else you might think of. All you need to be a telemarketer is a nice way of communicating with people, a knack for overcoming failure, and fingers that don't get achy from dialing a lot of phone numbers. This job does not have as much high turnover as the other jobs, but a business can almost never have too many good sales people. So answer of those ads for a good phone person, and show up to the interview with a polite aura about yourself and a smile on your face. Before you know it, you'll have yourself a job, no background or credit checks needed.
