1. Reiki can't get you a job.
Reiki can open your mind to new job opportunities. It can give you clarity regarding what job would be best for you. And it can give you the mental and emotional strength and confidence you need to face the interviewer, get hired, and do your job well.
However, you can't sit back and wait for a job to come to you, just because you received Reiki for the situation. Instead, you still need to take an active approach. You need to send out resumes, hone your skills, network, and do everything others do to get jobs. Reiki doesn't offer any practical advantage in a job search. You still have to do your own legwork. Reiki only gives you the motivation, for lack of a better word, to do what you know you need to do.
2. Reiki can't bring you money.
Similarly, receiving Reiki for financial hardships doesn't get you off the hook. You still need to work for your money, cut your expenses if possible, create a budget, and spend no more than you bring in. Again, Reiki can give you the motivation to change a bad financial situation. It can also give you the emotional strength to get through it. But Reiki alone cannot and will not bring you money.
3. Reiki can't make someone love you, or change their behavior.
Reiki can do no harm. It also can't change someone else's choices, or even your own choices. Reiki only works for your highest good, and then only if you're open to it. This is the same for everyone. Therefore, receiving Reiki for a relationship, or a potential one, doesn't mean you'll end up with, or stay with the other person. He or she can choose to leave or find someone else. Similarly, he or she won't change just because you sent Reiki so they would. Reiki does not take away anyone's free will.
There are many other unreasonable expectations of Reiki. These, however, are some of the most common. Before you receive Reiki, it's best to mainly expect relaxation and stress reduction. These benefits are proven. However, be open to other effects of Reiki, and make sure you have the support of your practitioner in case you have questions.
Don't put limitations on Reiki treatments. But don't expect Reiki to do all the work for you, either. Doing this is a surefire way to be disappointed by your Reiki treatment.
