Olde Auburn Ale House - Auburn

This brewpub located at 124 Tichenor Ave. is right off of campus for Auburn University students to enjoy. They had difficulty starting the brewpub because of Alabama ABC law which required a new brewpub to be started only in a county that had already had a brewery prior to prohibition. They managed to fulfill the requirements and opened in 2000. There are 8 house beers: Oktoberfest, hefe, kolsch, 2 IPAs, rye, raspberry, and an Irish stout. Each of these are full bodied beers that will satisfy. Some have said that the beer is served too cold. Olde Towne Brewing - Huntsville

At 3200 Leeman Ferry Road, this establishment was opening not too long ago and offers a variety of fine local brews. Unlike the Auburn Ale House, this is an actual brewery, not a micropub. Their style is to capture the beer flavors of England and Europe. They offer Olde Towne Amber Ale, Pale Ale, Hefeweizen, Pilsner, and seasonal beers like October Pumpkin Ale. Montgomery Brewing - Montgomery

Established in 1995, and winner of the silver medal in English-style summer ales from the 2008 Great American Beer Festival, Montgomery Brewing is a place to take a closer look at. This micropub is located at 12 West Jefferson Street and offers a variety of beer styles. First of all, their Montgomery Blonde is a very light ale that they market as thirst quenching and smooth. They also sell Riverboat Red, Goat Hill Pale Ale, and Wipe Out Stout, all ales varying in darkness made with caramel malts and English hops. This micropub takes a decisively American perspective on most of their beers, however.
