3. TORO Mini.
TORO Mini is a Digital Synthesizer for the iPhone or iPod Touch from Instant Binary. The TORO Mini is priced at $1.99 and is available in the AppStore. TORO mini ships with 67 adjustable instruments, a four octave keyboard and the Sticky Keys feature. The patches can be easily adjusted via eight knobs which change depending on the instrument being used, giving you control over wavelengths, delay, envelopes, etc. The new innovative four octave keyboard is resizable and scrollable, fully animated to make it as intuitive as possible. It is not the best in the buisness but, is quite cheap and easy to use.
2. Plinkton.
Plinkton is the work of Chris Randall of Sister Machine Gun/Micronaut and brought to you by Naughty Panther. The application is available on iTunes for as low as $0.99 and very popular around the world. The appliccation enables you to "create a rythmic groove over a bed of smooth ambience" as per Chris himself. There are three background sound sets and four sets of Plinkton included. You have the control over volume, number, speed and direction of the generative nodes. A real bonus with the application is that it can also be used to control other hardware/software over OSC (Open Sound Control).
1. Thump.
Thump is the latest and the best Music Making App for the iPhone or iPod Touch, it is an complete machine developed by Marek Bareza ready to kill all the other applications at the price of $3.99. It features 16-step sequencer with song compramising upto eight four-bar patterns for each instrument. It has two synthesizers modeled on analog calssics each with two oscillators, and voulme and filter enevlopes. Nine drum kits, including Roland TR models. It has a mixer section with volume and filter controls, plus delay, bitcrusher and distortion effects for each track. It also allows you to upload your own samples and play with them. The app is one of kind with a lot features and shows us the power of today's technology.
So, if you want to make your own music and you have a iPhone or iPod Touch, select wisely, then go get it!
