How to Make Thin Paste: This is a craft recipe for how to make thin paste. Thin paste is a good adhesive for scrapbooks, collages and strip paper mache. Yes, you can buy thin paste in a craft store, but it's more fun to make your own. Your kids will enjoy making this thin paste and will very much enjoy using this thin paste for their arts and craft projects. This recipe makes about 1 pint of thin paste.

Step 1: Gather these ingredients: 1/4 cup sugar, 1/4 cup wheat flour (not self rising), 1/2 teaspoon powder alum (find this with the spices), 1 cup plus 3/4 cups water, 1/4 teaspoon oil of cinnamon.

Step 2: In a medium sized pot, mix together the sugar, the flour and the alum.

Step 3: Slowly add 1 cup of water to the mixture and stir vigorously to break up any lumps.

Step 4: Boil the mixture until it is clear and smooth, stirring constantly.

Step 5: Add remaining water and oil of cinnamon and stir until thoroughly mixed.

Step 6: Store this thin paste in a jar for several months. Do not refrigerate. When using the thin paste, you can spread it with a brush, a craft stick (popsicle stick) or your fingers!

How to Make Paper Paste: This is a craft recipe that will teach you how to make paper paste. Paper paste is a soft, smooth, thick and white paste. Paper paste has a good spreading consistency and it is especially good for little hands of small children since they can get right in the paste to work with it. It will work well for any paper crafts that require pasting. Yes, you can buy paper paste in a craft store, but it's more fun to make your own. Your kids will enjoy making this paper paste and will very much enjoy using this paper paste for their arts and craft projects. This recipe makes about 1 cup of paper paste.

Step 1: Gather the following ingredients to make paper paste: 1/3 cup wheat flour (not self rising), 2 tablespoons sugar, 1 cup water, 1/4 teaspoon oil of cinnamon.

Step 2: Mix the flour and sugar in a saucepan. Gradually add the water while stirring vigorously to break up any lumps.

Step 3: Cook over low heat stirring constantly until the paste is smooth and clear.

Step 4: Remove from the stove and add the oil of cinnamon and stir until well blended.

Step 5: Store the paste in a covered jar. Do not refrigerate. The paste will last for several weeks.

How to Make Classroom Paste: This is a craft recipe that will teach you how to make classroom paste. Classroom paste is a good all purpose paste perfect for children's arts and crafts. It is also excellent for paper mache projects. Yes, you can buy classroom paste in practically any store, but it's more fun to make your own. And you will save money too, especially if you need a lot of paste for your projects. Your kids will enjoy making this classroom paste as much as they will enjoy using it for their paper craft projects. This recipe makes about 1+1/2 quarts of classroom paste. That's a lot of paste!

Step 1: Gather the following ingredients to make classroom paste: 1 cup wheat flour (not self rising), 1 cup sugar, 1 cup cold water, 4 cups boiling water, 1 tablespoon powdered alum (in the spice section of your grocery store), 1/2 teaspoon oil of cinnamon.

Step 2: Combine the flour and sugar in a large pot. Slowly stir in the cold water to form a paste.

Step 3: Slowly add the boiling water and stir vigorously to break up any lumps.

Step 4: Bring the mixture to a boil and stir constantly until it is thick and clear.

Step 5: Remove from heat and add the alum. Stir until well mixed.

Step 6: Add the oil of cinnamon to preserve the paste and make it last longer. If you are using the paste immediately, you do not need to add the oil of cinnamon.

Step 7: Store in a tightly closed jar. Do not refrigerate. The paste will keep for several weeks. It it gets too thick you can thin it with a bit of hot water.
