Take Me Out to the Ball Game!

If you're into sports, a perfect date may be a baseball game! The Burlington Royals, a minor league baseball team, starts their schedule in mid-June each year at the Burlington Athletic Stadium. Located at 1450 Graham St. in Burlington, the stadium seats 3,500 and has quite a history. The stadium itself was originally constructed in Danville, Virginia then purchased in 1958, dismantled and reconstructed at the Burlington site. It was named Fairchild Stadium after Fairchild Park recreation center and the nearby World War II Fairchild Aircraft manufacturing plant. Shots of the stadium were filmed in the 1988 movie "Bull Durham." With that in mind, not only can you take your date to a fun ball game, you can wow her with these interesting facts.

Directions to Burlington Athletic Stadium: From I40/85, take exit 145. Head North on Maple Ave. and go approximately 2 miles. Take a right onto Mebane Street and continue for 2 miles. Take a right onto Beaumont Avenue and follow it until it ends; the stadium is on the left.

Up For A Little Competition?

If you'd prefer an activity, a perfect date may be playing Putt-Putt! Located at 1340 North Church Street, Putt-Putt Fun Center offers two challenging 18-hole miniature golf courses and a video arcade. Plus there's a snack bar or a variety of fast food restaurants nearby, such as Burger King, Taco Bell, KFC and McDonalds. Putt-Putt, also called minigolf, first originated in the 1800's. Directions to Putt-Putt Fun Center: From I40, take exit 143. Turn onto Alamance Road/NC62. Continue for 1.33 miles then take a slight right onto Church Street. Continue for 1 mile; Putt-Putt Golf & Games is on the left.

If you'd prefer a more intimate setting where you can talk and get to know each other, a perfect first date may be at the local Starbucks. Located at 451 Huffman Mill Road, this is one of over 16,000 coffeehouses. It offers a variety of coffees, including drip-brewed and espresso-based drinks. At this location, you may find some local talent being showcased. From a local blue grass band to a group of comedians, it's always an interesting and fun evening.
