If you weight loss buddy is already three sizes smaller than you than and only needs to lose 10 pounds when you need to lose 50, your journeys are going to be completely different. Some people have qualms about having a family member or friend be a weight loss buddy but it may not be as difficult as you think. If you know someone else in your family wants to lose weight why not approach them to be your buddy. You can start off with just simply having weekly weigh-ins with them or once a week or so going over your workout plan and diet to keep you accountable.
If you want you can take this a step farther you can even set up some weekly workout dates with your weight loss buddy. Set up one or two times a week when you meet your buddy for a fun workout. These workouts could be an aerobics class at your local gym or a simple walk or hike in the park. If you have been going to the gym or recreation center for some time you may already know a few regulars that could be your buddy. If you just joined the gym as the staff or a personal trainer if they know of anyone who may want a weight loss buddy. You may be surprised to find there are plenty of other people looking for a person to share their weight loss journey with.
The great thing about finding a buddy at the gym is that you already work out at the same place so you don't have to worry about meeting up at different locations. One downside to this is that you will have to get to know your buddy in the beginning to see if you really are able to connect with this person and get along with them. This may be something you enjoy or something that you find frustrating but it always an option for you.
