3 Places to Watch World Cup Soccer in San Diego, California

Rachel Heller
Soccer is a popular sport all around the world, however, it seems the United States has yet to fall in love with soccer. Soccer is a fast moving and exciting sport that could catch on in the United States due to The World Cup. Sports and food have always gone well together, therefore, watching World Cup soccer while eating some great food might give World Cup soccer the kick it needs to reach new heights in the United States. I have recently started watching soccer because of The World Cup. I usually watch this soccer tournament with friends in a restaurant. Therefore, I will tell both soccer fans and future soccer fans about three delicious food establishments where to watch the World Cup in San Diego.

Mexico is in Group A for the World Cup. If you are rooting for Mexico and like Mexican food then, I recommend that you watch the World Cup at Casa De Pico. Casa De Pico has great food and giant television sets. The salsa and chips are delicious and the margaritas are muy bueno. A group of people can enjoy a wonderful lunch menu that has five choices on it. There is a chicken caesar salad with a cheese quesadilla, a beef taco with a cheese enchilada, a tostada, fish tacos, and cheese crisp special. These entrees come with rice and beans. Casa De Pico will make soccer fans full and frantic while watching the World Cup.

Italy is in Group F for the World Cup. Therefore, fans of the Italian soccer team might like to combine pizza with their favorite sport. If this is the case then, I suggust that you watch the World Cup at Oggi's Pizza and Brewing Company. There are big screen televisions all over Oggi's; so soccer fans can see all of the action wherever they sit. Also, Oggi's pizzas are spectacular. Many of the pizzas have sports names. My favorite pizza is called March Madness. It is called March Madness because it has five cheeses on it. I know that March Madness is all about basketball. However, maybe Oggi's will create a pizza celebrating the World Cup called June Jubilee.

Australia is in Group D for the World Cup. Australia soccer fans should go to Outback Steakhouse to watch the World Cup. In addition, United States soccer fans will enjoy this seasoned steak place too. There are big screen televisions. Therefore, fans could both eat and watch soccer. I always order the Victoria steak and the Bloomin Onion. Outback Steakhouse will make World Cup fans say G'Day to both soccer and steak.

Soccer is a popular sport all over the world. The biggest soccer event is the World Cup. However, it seems like the World Cup isn't big in the United States. Food and sports go together well. Therefore, I think that watching this sporting event while feasting on some international foods would make soccer and the World Cup more popular. In order, to help the cause I provided three places to watch the World Cup in San Diego.

Outback steakhouse for the Aussies? Common, that is a weak attempt at helping someone find the right pub.

response to Josue - it's unclear if this writer did any research. I can tell you Princess Pub, Shakespeare Pub (two mentioned in comments) ARE open. There are much better lists that give hours. Try this one: http://www.sdnn.com/sandiego/2010-06-10/sports/eight-great-san-diego-bars-to-watch-the-2010-world-cup

These are the worst restaurant picks ever. Outback for Aussies? Get real. and get a clue about dining. Oggi's for Italians?? How about Little Italy - you heard of that, it's an entire NEIGHBORHOOD in San Diego with 10+ restaurants including Sogno di Vino and Princess Pub as two obvious choices for viewing. It's also where they put out a Jumbotron when Italy made it to the finals a few years ago. Sorry you must live your whole life in a strip mall. you might try getting out and dining in real restaurants before writing an article like this.

outback steakhouse for aussies? Seriously? that's like saying american's should watch at applebee's. aussies should go to bareback downtown. italians should go to oggi's? why not pizza hut? all sports bars will have pizza, so by that logic, italians could watch the game at any sports bar and they would be equally happy. do some research next time instead of just recommending chain restaurants.

from what I hear, one of the best places to watch in San Diego (and that should be open for the games) is Shakespeare Pub & Grille. Always have the top matches televised but keep in mind they may have a cover charge...who cares about food when you're watching the biggest sporting event in the world!

those are all good recommendatoins, watching the indicated National team to their typical cuisine. one concern about this article is that it doesnt seem to take into account that many games are in the morning (from 7am and so forth). will time not be an issue or are the specific sports bars that will open their doors earlier for the Wolrd Cup events?
