San Diego's Mardi Gras Masquerade Parade is a very big and intense event to go too. If you are a party person then this Mardi Gras event is for you. Thousands of people go to the Gaslamp District to not only watch the masquerade parade but also participate in it. Everyone loves beads during Mardi Gras and want to get as many as they can. There are many floats, extreme creative costumes, and of course many colorful beads. San Diego's Gaslamp District becomes party central with people of all kinds of personalities coming out. Just remember to party safe, and never drink and drive especially if you are in Downtown San Diego during Mardi Gras. San Diego's Mardi Gras Masquerade Parade can be watched on Fifth Avenue between E St and K St. The parade is on Tuesday February 5th from 7:30 pm to 10 pm. If you want to come out and party for Mardi Gras then come to the Gaslamp District of San Diego, CA. The good thing about the parade is that this event is FREE!
Gaslamp Mardi Gras Festival
If you want to party more after watching the Mardi Gras Parade then you definitely need to go to the Gaslamp Mardi Gras Festival. If you want to dance, drink, get more beads, eat Cajun food, listen to music, and admire all the colorful crazy costumes then this Mardi Gras Festival is for you. Unfortunately this event caters to the 21 + crowd only. If you are 21 + though you will definitely have a complete Mardi Gras experience San Diego style. The Mardi Gras Festival does usually charge a cover; you may want to ask the price before you enter. This event is also on Tuesday February 5th, from 6 pm until 1 am located in Downtown San Diego's Gaslamp District.
Hillcrest L.G.B.T. (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgendered) Mardi Gras Festival
If you are looking for a more diverse Mardi Gras Festival especially if you are part of the L.G.B.T community then don't worry. Hillcrest is San Diego's L.G.B.T community that also offers a Mardi Gras Festival celebration. This celebration is located in Hillcrest on University Avenue between 3rd and 4th Avenue. If you want to see a rainbow of colors and want to party until the late hours of the night the L.G.B.T community definitely knows how to do it in San Diego during Mardi Gras. You will not only receive rainbow beads, but you will see Drag Queens in extravagant costumes, hear dance music, eat Cajun food, but you can definitely be sure you can be comfortable in this diverse Mardi Gras celebration. This event is also on Tuesday, February 5th.
