1. First of all time-outs simply enable little ones to waste time, by dragging their feet, performing tantrums, and then we ask them to go sit in the time-out corner, to waste some more time! And all you did was ask them to help with dishes, laundry, or to do the homework, they know they have to do, but do not want to do. I say Time-Out!
Instead, give them to the count of 3 (to start helping) or else - no more electronic games, or toys which your child spends most of his or her time playing with! I usually get the help I've requested, by the count of 2.
When the dust settles, I am the one who needs a time-out to calm down and cool off! I prefer a tall glass of iced tea, or cinnamon coffee, to accompany me to my predetermined time-out destination! After waiting a few minutes, and hearing my originally-requested task being completed, I emerge feeling like a million bucks!
2. Work can be very stressful, especially if you have deadlines to meet, or have to be up, dressed, and out-the-door by a certain time every morning! But wait - what about the kids? You also have to get them up, fed, dressed, and delivered as well! I say, Time-Out!
This weekend, get your family organized, laundry cleaned, with outfits set-out for the entire week, for every family member. Pre-cook all evening meals for the week and freeze ahead, for quick thawing, or crock-pot slow-cooking. Get all this finished by Sunday morning so you have time to reward yourself with an uplifting church service, followed-up by a beauty routine of hair, nails, and facial masque. You'll look like a million bucks!
3. Now that everything is running smoothly, and you're actually getting more sleep by implementing the first two suggestions, it's time to give credit to all those who have helped you in your plight to become human, once again! Compliments and praises should be lavishly supplied to everyone participating in your life! Wait a minute, everyone? I say Time-Out!
Yes, thank everyone, beginning with your Creator, and be sure to include your husband, your children, and your friends, wherever you may find them. Talk is cheap so why not say happy, cheerful, complimentary things to everyone? Then we will all look, feel and perform, just like a million bucks!

Excellent advice.
Nice article. I'm a big fan of removing favorite devices as a means to get results myself. My timeouts are usually a matter of sitting on the back step by myself. My son and I have an understanding that when we need to walk away from each other, that's what we do!
Thank you for reading Tony and Anne!!! Yes, Anne, naps are a very good thing!!!
