Larry Smith
There are many very good stand-up comedians working today. You don't have to go far to get a good laugh if you enjoy stand-up comedy. Just jump over to comedycentral.com and see their list of comedians. However, there are some comedians who you just can't get enough of. Comedians, that you make it a point to go see them live when they have a local gig. In this article I feature my 3 favorite stand-up comedians. I invite you to either go see these comedians live the next time they are playing in your home town. Or, at the very least, go out and rent or purchase their stand-up specials.

BILL BURR is originally from just outside of Boston. He started as a stand-up comedian in the mid-90's and his first major performance was for "Comics Come Home 2", a charity fund raiser hosted annually in Boston by Denis Leary. In 2003, Bill Burr filmed "Comedy Central Presents Bill Burr", and he was also featured in "Comic Remix". In 2004 Bill released his comedy CD "Emotionally Unavailable". He made a name for himself on Comedy Central's "Chapelle's Show". He made multiple appearances during the shows second and third seasons. More recently Burr has been preforming regularly on the Late Show with David Letterman, and the Tonight Show with Conan O'Brien. He is also a regular on Satellite radio's "Opie and Anthony". In 2008 Bill released his Special "Why Do I Do This" and followed that up with "Let it Go" in 2009. Bill Bill tours nationally and sell-out most venues.

JIM GAFFIGAN is originally from Indiana. He started as a stand-up comedian in the mid 90's. Aside from Stand-up Jim currently appears in TV series, and sitcoms, such as "Law and Order", TBS's "My Boys", and "Sex and the City". He has also appeared in multiple movies such as "Super Troopers", "30 Years to Life", 13 Going on 30", and more recently "17 Again" among others. Jim Gaffigan has 7 Comedy DVD's including "Doing My Time", "Beyond the Pale", and his most recent special "King Baby". Jim is best known for his stand-up bit, "Hot Pockets" and doing "asides" voicing the opinion of a fictitious, easily offended, member of the audience in a high pitched voice. Jim Gaffigan tours nationally and sells out most venues.

JOHN CAPARULO is originally from northeastern Ohio. He started in stand-up in the late 90's in Cleveland, and Pittsburgh. Caparulo had gained popularity in the comedy world, but got his biggest break when he was asked to join 3 other comedians on "Vince Vaughn's Wild West Comedy Tour: 30 Days and Nights" in 2006. He also filmed "Comedy Central Presents John Caparulo" in 2006. Caparulo's fame grew even greater when he joined the "Blue Collar Comedy: The Next Generation" tour hosted by Bill Engvall in 2007. In 2008 John taped his DVD special "Meet Cap", which was released in early 2009. John has appeared on the "Tonight Show" and he makes regular appearances on E!'s "Chelsey Lately".
