3 Things that Will Damage a Relationship

Melvin Richardson
There are a number of things that will damage a relationship. Sometimes they are damaged to the extent of no return. Then there are times when a relationship can be restored to its original state leaving the relationship as strong as ever. These three things will be particularly damaging to a relationship.

Trust

Once the trust in a relationship is broken it will be really hard to re-establish that trust and keep the relationship in tact. If two people have a relationship and one of the parties has a trust issue because their trust has been violated in some manner it will leave the relationship tattered and broken. The damage done, in some cases, can be so devastating that the relationship may never be what it was in the past. Sometimes people can survive the trust issue but the issue of trust will always be lingering in the back of the violated parties mind. They will wonder if this will happen again, or if it has happened in the past or if there are other secrets which have not come to life.

Finances

You have two people who are trying to build a relationship but they have very different ideas about money. If you person is a spender and another is a saver then eventually they will collide as far as their values and beliefs are concerned over the household finances. In one situation you have an individual that saves 10% of their income, contributes to their 401k, has an emergency fund and the other person is going through the savings like a hot knife through butter, this will decimate a household. You cannot have two people moving in opposing directions trying to build a solid foundation for a home.

Values

In a relationship two people need to be able to have common morals and values and a sense of what's right and wrong. If they are moving in opposite directions regarding their core philosophies on life it can lead to problems, questions and misunderstandings later in life. There should be a similar foundation or common ground that a couple can share. From here a solid relationship can be built, in terms of a caring relationship. A house divided cannot stand. If there is no continuity within the relationship it will be nearly impossible for that relationship to strive and go forth. Most people don't take the time to understand their differences or similarities.
