3 Tips for Renewing Wedding Vows

Say the Nice Words!

Dan Reveal
Some people might think that the need to renew wedding vows isn't necessary if these wedding vows have never been broken. A one time commitment is enough for them.

Others see the renewing of wedding vows as a chance to reaffirm the original declaration of love, to make their commitment to marriage even stronger.

For those who believe in the importance of this strengthened commitment, there are 3 tips for renewing wedding vows. These tips for renewing vows are meant to send forth the message--whether there are witnesses to the ceremony or not--that two people are in love and enjoy saying words of devotion to each other.

Use Symbolic Themes

Regardless of where the renewing of wedding vows takes place, this is an occasion where the appropriateness of symbolic themes is greatly justified.

Think of an ice sculpture shaped like an eternal candle, for example, or a flaming dessert which symbolizes the eternal passion of love.

Using symbolic themes in the setting where people are renewing their wedding vows can be as important as the vows because theses themes are further evidence of an ongoing and unshakable marriage.

Dress Appropriately

Another tip for renewing wedding vows has to do with what to wear. It doesn't matter if the husband and wife wear the same clothes they wore to the original ceremony, but the style of dress should be appropriate for the seriousness of the occasion.

It is important to dress appropriately for the ceremony because renewing wedding vows is like the start of the second half of a life together. Conservative or fancy dress points to both the seriousness and joyfulness of this commitment.

Be Spontaneous

In spite of the seriousness of the occasion as two people rededicate their lives to each other, a final tip for renewing wedding vows is to be spontaneous.

Imagine being on a family vacation, for example, where your son or daughter is going to be married. Then, on a whim, you decide to renew your wedding vows.

Being spontaneous in renewing wedding vows is a good tip because it refers to the giddy spirit that should be allowed to overcome two people who are in love.

In sum, renewing wedding vows can be a great way to reaffirm the original declaration of love. Any tips for renewing wedding vows, therefore, are hardly set in stone.

The point here is that, if people have been married for some time, they are already going to know what they mean to each other.

Maybe they just like to say the nice words.

I renewed my vows in the Viva Las Vegas chapel in Vegas. Reverend Elvis was great, and we had a blast. But that is us. What can I say?
