Children's Movies About Baseball Trigger World Series of Fun

Em Robbins
When baseball season rolls around, and World Series advertisements are abound, the best type of movie to gather around is a family themed sports flick. When the playoffs are hot and you want your kid to be interested in baseball, baseball themed movies can be a great way to get elementary school aged children interested in baseball. Here are three top amazing movies about baseball for kids that even adults will thoroughly enjoy.

Everyone's Hero

Everyone's Hero is a 2001 animated film about a kid who, with the help of a talking ball and bat, learns the value of self-esteem and becomes a better baseball player. This animated movie was directed by Christopher Reeve, and features a star-studded cast including William H. Macy, Rob Reiner and Whoopi Goldberg. Everyone's Hero is an inspiring movie that is entertaining for kids of all ages.

The Sandlot

The Sandlot is a must-see movie for elementary-school aged kids who are into baseball, especially if they play the sport with other kids. Set in the 1960s, this movie centers around a kid who has just moved to town, and through playing on the local baseball diamond, develops friendships and has adventures over the course of the summer. The Sandlot stars James Earl Jones as the Beast's owner and Tom Guiry as the new kid in town. The Sandlot is appropriate for most ages, but has some boyish scuffling that may be too much for some younger or less mature baseball fans.

Rookie of the Year

Starring Thomas Ian Nicholas and directed by Daniel Stern, Rookie of the Year is an inspiring baseball film in which a kid with a broken arm suddenly heals with an amazing pitching arm with speeds of 100 miles per hour. When the Chicago Cubs find out, they hire the kid immediately. The expected cheeseball antics ensue. Rookie of the Year is a hilarious cheeseball film with a wacky feel with zany humor that makes it a perfect baseball movie for all but the youngest of family sports audiences.

When taking a movie break at any baseball themed activity for kids, it is important to keep a close eye on how kids are reacting to the movie so you can talk with them about anything that upset or alarmed them in the film. even a PG film can have scenes that alarm children, and keeping an adult available to talk about any of the mischief that tends to appear in sports movies is a good bet to keep your baseball gathering orderly.
