3 Twitter Tips

T. McSpadden
Twitter is a popular, and highly addictive, way to promote nearly anything while interacting with the world. While many Internet marketers, bloggers, and just plain folks have jumped on the twitter band wagon very few know how to make the most of their new habit. Yes it's true that there is not set in stone way to tweet and get attention, but there are some things that you can do to build a positive rep in the tweetosphere.

First of all, prove to the twitter community that you are a real person. That might sound ridiculous, but with the rise in the popularity of twitter many marketers have started using software to automate their tweets. Being able to show the twitter community that you are a real person who is seriously interested in connecting will increase your chances of getting followers and attracting interest. Some ways to prove that you are a real person are to upload a picture, change your background, and tweet about personal things even if you're promoting a product or service.

Secondly, interact with your followers. Whenever possible return the compliment by choosing to follow some of your followers. Doing so shows that your twitter use isn't solely to further your own agenda. Also, try to respond to comments people leave in response to your tweets. This will encourage others to comment on your tweets in hopes of getting your attention.

Finally, do not spam or blast! We all know that twitter is a fantastic marketing tool, just don't overdo it. There is no reason to tell your followers the same thing every hour, every day. Being annoying will not get you more sales or more customer; it will just make people to stop following you.

Twitter is a fantastic resource for small business owners, marketers, and those who occasionally seek to promote themselves. While it may be tempting to automate or overuse an newly discovered resource, do what you can to preserve this unique service.
