Glam it Up
If you plan on doing something extra special with your hunny this Valentine's Day like going out to a nice restaurant, one that requires that he wears a tie and dress shoes, or maybe you want to go out for cocktails with the girls this 'Glam' look would be perfect. It will have the men doing double takes, and the women envious.
The center piece to this outfit is the dress. I'm almost positive that most women have at least one of these dresses just hanging in their closet waiting to be worn. It's most likely black or red, and hugs your curves in all the right places, forming to your body like a second skin. It shows just the right amount of skin but not too much that it takes the class away. This dress awakens the slumbering feline in all women, and it's ready to play.
Once you have that dress picked out, it's time to work on hair and makeup. I always do my hair before my makeup, it's just a preference. For this look gorgeous big curls will work, but if you have short hair go with smaller curls that frame your face. If curls aren't you're thing and you want something a tad more structured try a partial up-do by pulling back the sides. This look will show off your facial features but leave enough hair down to frame your face too.
The makeup can go one of two ways, depending on what you like and the look you're going for. If you want dark and sultry go with smoky eyes and nude lips, with just a hint of peachy blush. The focus point should be your eyes. If you want something that says 'va va voom' go with neutral tones for the eyes with maybe a hint of color on the lids, pink blush (you want that slightly flushed look) and finish it off with luscious red lipstick that would make even Snow White envious.
For shoes I'd go with peep toe or a nice sexy heel, and avoid platforms or anything that looks like it belongs in a Gentlemen's Club. I'll leave the color up to you, but if you're going with a red dress don't go with red shoes because it'll look too matchy. If you go with a black dress that's fairly simple I'd suggest adding some color to the look with your shoes.
As for accessories. I would keep it simple but add one key piece that stands out. You don't want to go too big or too flashy because it will distract from the overall look. I'm not big on gold jewelry but I find that it goes really well with black and red, but especially red.
Simply Beautiful
This next look is more casual than the 'Glam' look but still dressy. It's best suited for a semi-casual date night or going out with the girls for dinner and hitting the clubs. Try pairing a pair of white skinny or trouser pants with a nice satin or silk top. What's very trendy now are the those flowy and ruffled blouses. White skinny jeans will work too if you don't have skinny pants. In keeping with the soft, romantic theme I would suggest going for pastel colors, but if that isn't your taste rich jewel tones will work too. If you're going with the rich jewel tones I would suggest pairing it up with a black bottom.
Round the outfit off with a pair of heels that screams, 'vixen,' like a pair of pumps with stand-out detailing. For accessories silver or gold will work with either color palette. As with the 'Glam' outfit pick out one key piece to rock, but if you're wearing a top with a lot of details skip the necklace.
For makeup and hair, think light smoky eyes with loose curls, tousled hair or super straight chic. Remember that smoky eyes doesn't necessarily mean black or grey, it can be a color of your choosing so long as it doesn't conflicted with your outfit.
Fun and Flirty
This last look is great for a very casual date night with your significant other or your girlfriends. When I say casual I mean places like the movie theater, grabbing lunch or dinner at a trendy sushi place or café.
This look can be a one piece or two. The one piece is a fun, flirty dress, again sticking with the romantic theme go for pastels, floral prints and ruffles. Once again if pastels aren't your cup of tea that's okay go for rich tones, something vibrant. The two piece is a rendition of the one piece by pairing a nice feminine top with a cute mini or pencil skirt, or a simple top with a flirty skirt. Since the outfit is very casual it can be paired with flats, heels and even slouchy boots, or a pair of camel colored riding boots.
With this outfit it's all about being playful so have fun with the accessories, just don't go overboard. Play up the outfit with gold, silver or pearls. Layer the necklaces or bangles too. The earrings shouldn't be too big though, it's one piece that I feel should be kept small and simple.
I believe that hair and makeup for this look should be kept pretty simple so that it doesn't take away from the outfit. You don't want too many things going on all at once, it gets distracting. Try light smoky eyes with pink to nude lips. If you go neutral colors you can have more fun with the lip color, even go really glossy. For hair, keep it easy and casual like it was effortless. Try wavy or very loose curls, a high pony tail, or a low one with side swept bangs.
What ever you have planned for Valentine's Day these three looks will surely make an impression, but the best accessory to any outfit is confidence. Most importantly, remember that you don't need a man to look beautiful for because Valentine's Day can be about loving yourself and embracing your femininity.
