3 Ways to Add Romance in the Bedroom with Lights

Ann Siper
Lights are a great way to add a little romance to a bedroom. While lights may not necessary be the first way your think to add romance in the bedroom, you will love these ideas.

The trick to adding romance and not too much information in the bedroom with lights is to keep in mind the amount of watts the lights are putting out!

Romanics Accent Lights Idea #1: Light Columns

You can create columns of lights using Christmas slights. Opt for the strands that are white and have white plastic cords.

Simply cut a strip of wood that is about twelve inches long. Predrill holes in the strip of wood. Place them about an inch part. Make sure the holes ar eat least an inch wide.

Run strings of light through the holes making long strands that are all tall as your bedroom.

Hang the strip of lights on the wall, tight form the ceiling. This will create columns of light where you wish. I recommend making two columns of light and hanging one behind each nightstand!

Tip: You can buy strips f lights like this pre made at Ikea.

Romanics Accent Lights Idea #2: Under Bed Lighting

So, columns of light are still too much? Try running some of those strips of plastic covered lights around the edges of the bed, right under the bed skirt. You can tack them to the floor so they do not move. This will give your bed a soft glow, but do not worry, it will not look like those cheesy car with the pale blue lights under them!

This is a very soft light and will not eliminate anything you do not want to see! It also makes a fun night light in a kid's bedroom.

Romanics Accent Lighting Idea #3: Curtain Lights

Ok, so this one is a fun idea. Take yoru curtains and sew strips of Christmas slights to all the edges. Try to do the two sides and the bottom edge. Each curtain will be lit from behind, which will look very romantic at night.

Simply take your curtains down. Lay them face down on the bed. Run the lights around the edges. Use a needle and thread to stitch them in place. It take a little time, but will last for years.

If you do not want to add this to your curtains, then you can frame out window, but this will look a little bit like Christmas!
